Woo woo! Nice car, Lisa.

I drive a black 1994 Geo Tracker softtop. I love the convertible feature but hate the fact that it doesn't have A/C, power steering, or anti-lock brakes. Especially the A/C thing. Everyone always tells me to suck it up because I can just put the top back... but that doesn't work when you want to look nice for job interviews and stuff. Plus it's just really getting old. I want a new car!

We have two cars...MOST of the time I drive a 2000 Chev Malibu - White and Shane drives the 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider Convertible - Pearl. I really like the Malibu... Shane calls it the family car and the convertible is the fun car.... he needs it though... (mid life crisis thing ya know!! LOL)

I completely hear you on the no-power-anything and the no A/C... although, I technically HAVE A/C, it's just never worked.

My previous car was a Mercury Cougar... older, but like a couch on wheels. I think it spoiled me.

i bought a (used) black '94 years ago and the day after i bought it, it started blowing black smoke out the back. i was so sad to take it back; i'd totally fallen in love with it! i went to a different dealer (long story) the next day and bought my lovely bright red '94 (stick) (with a spoiler!)-- used of course.

she died last year and i went car shopping. didn't think i could afford a new car and almost bought a Civic (so cute!)but then i saw my new car at Carmax. brand new and a totally sweet deal! of course i had to do it!

I bought mine at Carmax too! I like that place. I've bought 2 cars from there. I love my Nissan, but it's giving me problems lately! The AC broke, the alignment got all messed up, and my gas door won't close! Oh and the interior lights flash on and off, so it's scary at night. Ghetto huh? My husband fixed it all, but it gets to be a pain.

I want a new one. They have great gas mileage, and it has lasted me through almost 90,000 miles so far with no MAJOR problems.

My car is an Acura CL. It's 7 years old, but I've only put (are you ready) 17,000 miles on it. I take it to be serviced, and the service people pull me aside and tell me, "DRIVE IT!" It even still smells new!

Hubby drives a Ford Explorer SUV. Same year as mine, but his has 102,000 miles on it. HA HA HA HA HA HA!

I drive a 98 Toyota Camry (I just love it and it's still like new.) Antique sage pearl
My hubby drives a 96 Toyota Corolla (in good shape) Tan
Our son drives a 99 Toyota Tacoma truck - Black and all polished up really spiffy.

My husband and I don't mind trading cars but I usually want to drive mine because I am spoiled and mine has power everything and you have to roll down the windows in his...I'm just too lazy...ha ha

Never drive son's truck....standard shift....can't do that!
Also, all kinds of alarms, stereo music and weird stuff happens in his truck.....I am scared of it.

My first car was a Ford Escort. 1990, black, well-rusted, hehe. I loved that car to pieces - called it my little "tank", because it was such a heavy, solid car for its size. I lived in NY at the time, and it handled perfectly through a few bad, snowy winters. I cried when it finally died for good.

Me not owning a Ford now was more luck of the draw than anything else. I was trying to find one in my price range quickly, and it never happened. Next time!

Shelby,

Your hubby won't be sorry. The Explorer has proven to be an absolute ESSENTIAL. We carry our rowing shells on top as well as our kayaks. We've hauled more stuff than you can imagine in the back, and it's great for the puppy dogs back there. We LOVE the Explorer. I hate that we have so many miles on it -- but yet it still drives like new.

It's a great car.

I'll come THERE if you can help me get a really good deal on a newer Lincoln...(it doesn't even have to be brand new).......I've had 3 now, loved them all, and my 10 year old one (Town Car) just purrs and gives me NO problems but has high miles. I knock on wood in hopes it keeps doing well for a few more years.
Under the hood it's actually TWO Pinto motors........did you know that?

We had a Ford at one time, and it was such a LEMON and the dealership was really ugly about not fixing it (although it was a major problem with all of those models).....so I'll never ever buy a Ford again. In fact, I've sworn off American made cars forever. It's Honda or Toyota for me. That way I hardly spend any time at the repair shop---and I don't have to worry about them breaking down when I'm on the road.

Well, I own a white '98 Ford Escort ZX2, but it's not the only car I drive. I also drive my boyfriend's endless stream of cars, which currently include a '75 International 100 Series Pick-up (color WAS green!), a black '89 Toyota truck("bucket-o-crap" as we have fondly named it), and a Pontiac bonneville sedan.

This doesn't include my '76 Honda 150 motorcycle that I ride on nice days.

Dang.. that's a ton of cars.

For some reason those polls never work for me! I drive automatic, but since my boyfriend and I are swapping vehicles once we move (he'll take my commute-friendly Metro, I'll take his old pickup), I have maybe a month or so to learn how to drive standard well!

Have a Metro because it gets great gas mileage. We bought the 18 foot RV a couple of years ago because I got tired of looking for good sized bushes for emergencies whenever I went to town. It's great! Now I take my potty with me wherever I go. It gets better gas mileage than my nieghbors trucks.

I've also had three Sentra's and I wish I went with another. The gas mileage is great and the standards have so much pep!!!

But alas, my dog won out and I drive a lovely forest green Saturn Station Wagon so I can drive the pup around anywhere she wants to go and not have to vacuum the back seat all the time. It is a great car and it's my first automatic and it's a V6 so I don't miss the pep but I do miss the 40 mpg!

LOL I've had some of the clunkiest old Fords but they all kept going....one van we had ended up with the starter just hanging off and when I took it in the mechanics asked how I was starting it...I said just fine.......and they just shook their heads...another we bought was a huge old clunky, oh I don't know, galaxie or something like that......my daughter, just turned 16 so thought it would make a cool "Dukes of Hazard" car so hit the hills around here........the only thing that happened was a hole in the oil pan..........funny...
He won't buy anything but Fords, and his Ranger is going downhill. We can't afford much right now, we just want to have it paid off but we have a couple more years. SOMEDAY we will have a F350 or something I love those trucks. So do all my (young) aerobics teachers....they all have one...personally I'd trade my TC for a Navigator, IF I could afford the gas!! Hey, has anyone ever told you your hubby looks like a really young Mark Harmon? You and my daughter have a lot in common.........as far as swimming..she life guarded at 15, then put herself thru college being a city guard in Santa Barbara, CA. We thought she'd do that her entire life.....but finally got a "real" job ...hehe.. Kandee

... bus! Well, technically I don't drive it... just ride it every day.. But I am in denial because I had a car at home and I miss it so much! When in Canada, I drive a 1992 Pontiac Sunbird and I love it so much. It's 'peppy'!
When I was in England, my boyfriend had a (this might only make sense to people this side of the pond because I'd never heard of it before) Fiat Coupe Pinin Farina and it was niiiiice. It was a turbo (vroom, vroom) and he loved it just a touch more than he loved me for a long time. But then I won that race, and he sold it to afford the immigration application costs (Now THAT'S love! ) It was red.. but a really nice red, there are a lot of these silly little red cars here that fade. But his was a nice, shiny red. And it went fast. Vroom, vroom.. But now we take the bus.

I'll say that's love! And here I always say that because Adam gave up one of his beloved guitars to afford the moving costs to get me up here.

Sounds like it was a pretty sweet car... but I'd say that's a really good tradeoff.

I love Explorers! We had one a few years ago and I absolutely adored it, it is my my favourite car! After that, we got a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, and it was new and shiny and big but I still missed the Explorer.. Bf and I are gonna try and get one when we move back to Canada. Not here, though..
methinks England is too small a country for SUVs.

Yeah, Steph, it's a nice car. It's really hubby's car, not mine. My car is an Acura CT, which drives INCREDIBLY, and yet we never take it out; we're always in the Explorer. I'm not quite sure why.... because of the puppy dog, perhaps? (We have a gate in the back for him.)

The Explorer is more economical on gas than my Acura (can you believe it?!); I think it's because I have to put premium gas in the Acura, and I don't with the Explorer. Also, the Explorer never needs repairs (but neither does the Acura). Hubby gets both serviced regularly, NEVER missing the required time period, so maybe that makes a big difference. But the SUV sits outside all the time, in the full sun and rain -- and snow. Hubby uses Armor-All and Permaplate on it all the time to protect it, but says he's anxious to put it in the garage when we finally move into the new house.

Of all the cars on the market today, if we had it to do over again we'd still get the Explorer. It was a wise purchase.

Oh! One mistake we made when we bought it. We wanted to bargain on the car, to get the price down as low as possible. The salesman just wouldn't budge on the model we wanted, but we were able to bargain on this one because it has no power windows and door locks, which everyone wants. We thought we didn't need it, but we were wrong. When you're driving in a questionable neighborhood, you want to be able to press a button and automatically lock all your doors as you're driving. We can't do that. Automatic door locks are a necessity.

Also, the SUV is stick shift. While we like it, we're in the minority.

So you see, we got a REAL bargain on that car, all the way around. We thought we had "taken" them as we walked out of the showroom, when in fact they probably thought just the opposite. However, because it has been such a good car for us, and so economical, we did end up having the last laugh.

Great car!

Hey Kelly; we had a tan colour Ford Escape. I loved it! So did my daughter.WE only had it for about 10 months. My husband got stuck with it, in about a foot of snow. No kidding only a foot. Then he got stuck again ! In more snow! So..he traded it in for a Ford Sportrak. As much room as an Escape inside and a box on the back like a Ford F150, which we had before the Escape. I loved the yellow Escape as well. I guess you haven't gotten stuck yet? Take care Sue

Hi Kandee - yes let's meet in Ohio! Haha. It's a lot closer for me!

I have never heard that about Mark Harmon! He sorta does! I'll have to tell him you said that I'll tell him not that old though of course... No wonder I thought that man was attractive!
Here - I'm attaching a couple other pictures of him/us - I think it's so hard to tell from those little pictures we post!

This one is with 3 of his brothers - he's 3rd from the left.

This one's a little old....

I love swimming/diving!! I could go on about it forever. And lifeguarding
I swam most of my life - I went to Junior Olympics and State for 4 years of high school. I gave up swimming during college because I couldn't handle swimming/engineering/and having a life. I sort of regret that decision now. I would love to coach on the side or something. Or just teach swim lessons to kids - that would be ideal!
How old is your daughter??

Hey Sue,

Nope, no problem getting stuck thankfully. Of course, we don't often get even a foot of snow here in London, I'm sure you get more where you are

Before my Escape I drove a two-seater Buick Reatta, so I know all about getting stuck in the snow, the Escape has been an absolute pleasure in comparison to that! Sorry that your hubby had trouble with it though

You don't have to live in PA to be in the Passat crew. I have to admit I do like mine. I went from a Durango SUV to this and I miss the room of the SUV but LOVE the gas mileage!

Yeah... I understand about the space thing. With my husband, me, the two dogs, and the cat, we're out of room in the Passat. I'm waiting with baited breath until they come out with the hybrid SUV's...
