Hi everyone! I was just wondering if you could all send some positive vibes my way. I've been busting my butt looking for a teaching job and haven't had any luck yet. I know it's still fairly early, but I thought maybe some good wishes from my IBS buddies would help move things along. Yes, I'm superstitious, lol.

I hope everyone here is doing okay. I've been trying to stop by the boards as much as possible but I'm still going through withdrawl. Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Wow, Kree, I never knew you were a teacher -- did I? Did you ever mention it before? Oh dear, I just don't remember.

What kind of teacher? What grades? Where are you looking? How far are you willing to commute? Gee, I would think there's a big demand for teacher, no?

You SOOO have my positive wishes, you betcha! You'd make a GREAT teach!

Bev and Casey, thank you both for the good vibes!

Bev, I've been a teacher in spirit for quite a while but have never actually had my own classroom yet!! I decided to go right on for my masters after graduating from college and I'm finally finishing up in August. Woohoo!

There is a pretty big demand for teachers in certain parts of the country, but unfortunately my area isn't one of them right now. Plus NY state is way overdue on their budget, which messes up retirement packages and is probably hindering some teachers from deciding to retire. Sigh. I am willing to relocate, although I'm a family girl and am hoping to stay within 1-1 1/2 hours from my parents. My ideal class would be 3rd or 4th grade but I'll take whatever I can get! I'm certified in elementary and special ed and soon to be literacy so I'm hoping that will make me marketable!

I hope you can find one!! I'm definitley sending you good luck since I know exactly what you're going through right now! It seems like no matter where I apply, there's no job comin out of it! *sigh* I'll be sure to keep thinking about you and hoping you find a job!

P.S. My 4th grade class was pretty wild!

Sending all my BEST WISHES your way. I know you'll be a terrific teacher once you get your own classroom......it's just getting your foot in the door.

But, I have to say, IF you are really set on this it's time to think SERIOUSLY about relocating no matter how far away it is. Once you have some experience under your belt you can always keep an eye open for something closer to home. Think about it, ok? I know it's REALLY hard being away from family, especially with IBS but look at it as an adventure, not a set back. I still regret not having taken a teaching job in Australia 34 years ago when it was offered. I just HAD to stay within my community, or so I thought. It was also when there was NO demand for teachers in my area, and so I sub'd for 3 years before a permanent position came up. Bad decision, looking back.

Anyway, enuf about that............I'll cross my fingers, toes, and anything else if it means getting some good luck coming your way.................You deserve it!!!

Hiya Kree,
I will definitely start sending some good wishes through to you. I hope you do get a teaching job, you're a more patient person than I if you can do teaching, that's for sure! I used to think I wanted to be a primary school teacher, but then I went in to help out in a kindergarten class and I was just exhausted by the time the day was over! I think I am not patient enough around little kids, I think anyone who is gets big marks in my book!
Good luck!
