I've been on Effexor now for a little over two weeks and I haven't had to use Imodium for a week! Have actually been having normal BMs every day....even had one day where I didn't go at all! (sorry for the gross details). One of the side effects of Effexor is C....for someone like me who is IBS-D, it's great! I can actually leave the house and not worry about having a bathroom near by. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this continues.
My moods and anxiety have really improved. Last night my husband said he wasn't sure how to act around me yet because I was so different......not letting things "piss me off" so much. I told him that I don't want anyone to treat me any different ("walk on eggshells") just because I am on medication like this....it's just a chemical imbalance and it's no different that taking insulin if I were diabetic. It seems that once people find out you are on medication for anxiety/depression...they treat you different. I don't want that. I'm the same person...just a happier and healthier one. Ya know!

that's such great news, Nugget.
what's funny to me is that people would act wierd once you're feeling better on the medication! i would think they'd act different when you were in "flip out mode." (i say that lovingly and teasingly, 'cause i'm familiar with it! i'm much much more level on my meds! )
anyway, Nugget, i'm so glad it's got this added plus for you. that's GREAT.
how are you sleeping? are the jitters gone?

Yes, the jitters are gone and I'm sleeping pretty good...I do wake up a lot more and sometimes have a hard time getting back to sleep...but it's all worth it.

I'm so happy that you're feeling much better.
Yes some people still think by taking anxiety/depression meds. that they have to treat you differently. You're right though, it is caused by a chemical imbalance and is an illness just like any other. People need to realize that more so there isn't so much stigma with going for help. It doesn't mean anyone is weak, they just have an illness that needs to be treated just like we need to treat our IBS.I think someday they will find that alzheimers (like my Mom has) will be linked to a chemical imbalance as other things she has is linked to it already. Glad you're feeling better and I'm sure as time goes on you'll be feeling even better than you are now.
Wishing you the best,
Pat

I'll have to check this stuff out with my doc. While I most definitely don't wanna EVER be C, it sure would be nice to be on the road and never have to worry about the inevitable running attack!
Nugget, this is great news. But what's even greater is your positive attitude. You're doing real well now, arent you? It shows. Was it Michael, do you think? It's more than the meds. It's real nice. I like it.
Congratulations, Pretty Lady!
