There is something I'd like to share...

I don't spend lots of time on my appearance (pretty low maintenance kinda girl), and when I need a new bra I just pick out one that seems the right size off the rack at Wal-Mart (I know, I know, it's truly horrible), which is usually a 36 A, but I knew that was too big.
Then, I decided that I am getting older (still young though!), so it's time to get a big girl bra (well, okay, a "grown up bra") so I went to Victoria's Secret and got sized up. I am now a 34 B! Woohooo! I still strongly belive that my boobs are way too small to be a B, but if the bra fits wear it!
I know that this post is a little ridiculous, but I needed to share!

you've probably been squishing them into the wrong size all along, really. when they sized me, they made me go up, too, and i've never been more comfortable! (ironically, my best friend was the one that told me to go in- she looked at me one day and said "what size do you think you are?" and when i told her she laughed so hard she almost fell over. she made me go get "sized." she was right. she guessed the right size, too. it's a gift! )

When I was first dating my now husband, we were at V.S. and I was going to get a new bra....at that time I was embarrassed of my size, and didn't want him to see it (34B). Well of course those sales people are ULTRA-friendly because they want you to buy the whole store. So I'm in the dressing room and my 'boyfriend' is right outside the door, and the sales lady comes to the door and SCREAMS, 'Are you doing ok in there?? I brought out a bunch more 34B's and set them outside your door!!! Most have the padding like you wanted!'

I wanted to DIE. I waited for like 5 minutes in that dressing room for my face to go back to it's normal color.

We laugh about it now....

That's so horrible! But, at least you have it to laugh at now. I'm not too shy about my size, since I know that it's obvious that I have small ones. Boy, did I brag to my boyfriend! He thought it was hilarious that I was so proud!

Hey girl!
That's awesome, hehe.
The only thing I wanted to add is that, if I'm correct, a 36A is pretty similar in size to a 34B...so in that case, you've always been a B! No need to worry!!!

I want to go get sized now. Thanks for the inspiration lol.

Victoria's Secret is the best place.. I love the bras and underwear. It's expensive, but we girls need to spoil ourselves for sure.. A comfortable bra is worth a million dollars.. ha-ha

Okay these might be stupid questions but here it goes: Where do you get sized for a bra? I live in the sticks so i wouldnt even know where to get sized at.Does it cost anything? and do you have to bare your breasts to the salesperson? I hate buying bras because it seems like i either end up with ones that pinch my sides or i end up looking like i have torpedo missles on my chest.I have always bought B cups, but im wondering now if maybe i need a C? i get those little bulges above the cups that makes me wonder if maybe i should be buying C cups?~~~Tanya

Victoria's Secret is a store in most malls, if you have one anywhere nearby. They measure you on top of your clothes. Every girl probably never measured before, we just always guessed our size. They will help at V's S to find the correct size in cup and around your whole body. Try it out. Don't be embarressed. Good Luck.

They have great catalogs, too. Maybe you could measure yourself. Get a tape measure and measure on top of your clothes. Go online to Victoria's secret . Sometimes what size you wear around is more important then the cup size. Like 34c or 36b.

Countrygirl,

Go to One Hanes Place on line. They have a page that tells and shows how to measure yourself. You'll need a measuring tape. I know about those little bulges!! They just told me to remeasure and sure enough I'd gone up a size!

Believe me, everyone and their sister is a 34B!! It's very hard to shop for bras for that reason!! lol I discovered that because I'm one as well (I got sized at VS too and I had the SAME EXPERIENCE AS YOU, Cara!!! She practically announced it to the whole store!!) and so I went to Target that night and was looking and there were almost NO 34B's left! My mom was like, "Yeah it'll get easier as you get older and hopefully bigger" and I just said "Thanks, Mom. Right when I think I'm pretty just as I am!" lol! Mom's!! *sighs*

I usually go for the sports bras just because they're the most comfy and you don't really have to worry about sizes with them! It's good to knwo that I'm not the only one who doesn't like bra shopping. And I always thought that the average size was a 36C or so but I guess not!

oh wow, peaches. we have a lot in common cuz i'm so a sports bra girl too, much to my mother's delight *not*
but, lol, 36C was exactly what I was gonna say! Now that I'm thinking thats probably just all the sizes added up and averaged out. It's probably more like 34A's and B's, some C's and lotsa D's. Who knows. All I know is that bra shopping is no fun.

Hahaha yeah but I think that having a DD chest would be very hard to manage!! I kinda like being this size because I think it's just right. People can see something there but it's not like an in-your-face kind of a thing (althoguh I'm sure that has it's advantages, too!) How old are you? Everyone says that I'm old enough to be wearing "big girl bras" but I find them either really itchy or really tight. Sports bras for me!

These posts are way too funny. I love someone to tell me I'm not a 34A anymore. The only time I had boobs was during a pregnancy and breast feeding. The only problem was they hurt too much and wanted my normal size back.

Hiya,
Okay, so I went to the fancy bra store and I told the woman in the fitting room that I was 36D and she was like, "No, you aren't." Just flat out. "No, you aren't". So I asked why not ('cause that's what the lady at La Senza told me about a year ago!!) and she said that SHE was a 36, and she was quite a bit bigger around than I am. So I got measured.
I am a 30 F! WHAT THE HELL??? That's like an entire post code, just for my ti... er, breasts!
I was like, "No, that's too big." and the girl said, "No, it's because your body is a lot smaller than your breasts." She said that the size you are around and your cup size aren't the same, that if one goes down, the other goes up, etc.
So I had to try on these "fitting bras" that were the most hidious things I have ever seen in my life but as I was looking at myself in the mirror I was like, "Look how long my tummy looks!" 'cause my boobs were finally picked up, outta the way!
I managed to talk my way into a 32 E by the end of my shopping trip 'cause I don't like stuff that fits really tight anywhere around my stomach.
Stupid boobs, always getting in the way. At least I found a store full of pretty underwear that I can actually buy new bras once I get paid.
Oh, on a side note, when I was going my boyfriend called me on my way home and said he'd had a good day. Why? "'cause I got to tell my mate at work Alex that my girlfriend has to shop at the 'big boob' store". Oy. Men.

wow.

i have Ds and that's almost too much!

i can sympathize with the waist bit, though. i have to have a good bra so i don't look wider than i am! i'm a nice curvy hourglass kinda gal- i am lucky to have a waist. but if i have a crappy bra on (or, god forbid, no bra!), i look so stout! and i'm only a D!

ps: yay for your boyfriend. *rolls eyes* it's like they take credit for it, ain't it!?

Do you know what I think? I think that most stores have different sizes where my boobs really are a 'D' cup, it's just that to fit into 'em, I have to get a 36. But I am only 30 around... Anyway, I am exactly the same in that my whole upper body would pretty much disappear (under a sea of breast) if I didn't wear a bra. At the store, I got a halter top that has a built in bra (like a real bra, not those crappy elastic bands that they say are supportive but couldn't hold one of my boobs, not to mention 2!) and on the tag it says it gives you 'grafity defying breasts' and by gosh, it does! I think I might wear that shirt every day, just to show off that I do have a torso!

I used to wish I had your problem- but now I kinda like having small boobs and wouldn't trade being streamlined for anything! Acouple of months ago I was drunk at a party joking about my small boobs and said if I had big ones all of a sudden I wouldn't now what to do with them, I wouldn't be able to squeeze thru things and I would probably knock things over with them.
I had everyone rolling on the floor!

My plain simple bra cost forty bucks, but they also have semiannual sales where there's bins of bras they are getting rid of from anywhere like ten to twenty bucks! You also don't need to bare your breasts, but it may be a good idea to wear a little tank top or something form fitting like I did- nothing bulky.

seriously, it is, though. usually they're tank tops and they have a band inside that's like a "boob sling!" well, we chesty gals look ridiculous in them a lot of the time- not enough support. well, in most of them. Victoria's Secret catalog had a few and i bought one style and it rocks, but most of them i just look like i'm toting around udders...

i got a plain old tank with a bra top. nothing particularly scoopy. it's just a curved neck, not a v-neck. i don't remember what the style is called. i probably have it in my email... hang on a sec...

ok, well that didn't work, but i pulled it up on the website:

scoopneck bra top.

i know it says "scoop neck" but it's not that bad. sometimes their tops REALLY scoop! it's no crewneck, tho.

i am trying to remember the name of the company i ordered the real-bra top from. they're really pretty (but expensive!). if i think of it or come across the catalog at home i'll let you know.

anyway, i think i'm going to order a few more tanks from VS. especially since they're on sale! i'm going to try a few different styles now that i know they maybe better than other bra tops...

i wear their bras and panties exclusively and now i'm into their clothing.

i like their pants because you can choose out of 3 lengths in most styles--- i'm only 5'6" but i wear a lot of heels and i like to pick a slightly longer pant so they don't look absurd! good for tall girls, too- it's the only place my sis-in-law can find pants that are the right length all the time...

plus, being a chesty girl, i like their shirts- show off the assets!

Wow there are so many styles to choose from and they do look comfy. BUT I LIVE IN CANADA, WAAAH! I don't believe they ship over here, of course! But maybe later on in the summer I can take a trip over the boarder. I love a lot of Abercrombie stuff, but don't own much cuz we don't have it over here!

Hey! I was browsing the Victoria's Secret site - its slowly reeling me in...but anyway
I was looking at size conversions http://www2.victoriassecret.com/html/custsrvc/sizecharts/
and saw that sizes in the UK are one size bigger than the US/Canada. So basically if you are a UK "32E" you'd be a US D or DD! So you were right in the first place I think....

oooh they do! but I think it would be expensive. I believe it's in US Dollars. Wonder what the current conversion rate is...gotta look that up.
But for orders 0-50 shipping is $10 (US i think)
but once you go over that its more worth it:
50.01 - 75.00 14.95
75.01 - 100.00 16.95
100.01 - 125.00 18.95
125.01 - 150.00 19.95
150.01 - 175.00 20.95
175.01 - 250.00 21.95
250.01 - 350.00 22.95

My mom LOVES their stuff too though so maybe I can convince her...

Oh and Abercrombie, yeah is totally expensive. Especially when I'm paying in Canadian dollars. I think I have a shirt, a sweatshirt and 2 pairs of pants! Thats it! I'd love more though!

Hi,

You guys can brag all you want but I am only a "B" cup and proud of it. Besides, I can go braless and no one even notices....wait a minute.... what am I saying....

Since I'm not working right now I go braless all the time. Are ya'll jealous??? That's one of the (and actually probably the only one) benefits of being little. Don't think my husband can brag about me going to the "little boob store"!

I do hate bra shopping, though. I have one old comfy bra that I just love and can't find one like it anymore. All the bras I try on are too stiff or too pointy and it is very frustrating.

Just kidding around....enjoy your "big boobs" and if you have any left over, send it my way !! ha ha

Thanks IBSgirl, I just saw your post about the sizes. I had a feeling that was the case.

As far as bra tops, everybody, I actually found some with underwires, which at my age I need! They're not cheap but they're AWESOME. They come in both cotton and microfiber and in lots of colors. Here's the link.

Hi again!
Well, if an E here is a D or a DD in the US, I guess that's not so bad. The sizes in La Senza are the same over the pond, but the woman in the store told me that's 'cause La Senza started in Canada (dunno if that's true or not, I guess she'd know better than me) and all the stock came from there or something. Weird.
Does that mean that if I am officially an F here (I got down to an E when I bought the halter top 'cause they fit different) in bras, I am an E back in the US, though? Dear Lord. Will I ever be able to buy bras again without all this confusion??? Just kidding.
As for Victoria Secret, I LOVE their stuff. I once went to order a whole bunch of stuff, but then didn't because I was worried about having not tried any of it on before. So off a friend and I went instead across the border to Bellingham and shopped and shopped. That was before we had Old Navy, so it was a real exciting trip! My friend buys perfume from Victoria Secret.. I can't remember what it's called but I think it's really, really nice and I normally hate all perfume.

Hiya,
I think it's really nice when a guy isn't all drooly over boobs but the thing with me is, I've got 'em... so you might as well like 'em... Like, my boyfriend is at least a "breast guy" rather than a "legs guy" or whatever else. So in that way, it works out pretty well for me.
My problem was, when I was from about 16-20, most of my closest friends were guys.. and they all liked the same type of girl: Stick thin, no boobs, no hips, blonde/straight hair. So I was totally the wrong type, which was fine 'cause we were just friends, but I really spent those years thinking I had a horrible body. Now, picture this.. When I was 16 years old I weight 110 lbs and had large end C cup boobs. Okay, I can't remember exactly what my body looked like then 'cause I was so busy thinking it was horrible and covering it up in baggy sweatshirts (I used to wear my DAD'S Club Monaco sweatshirts to school - my Dad is not a small man!) but if someone told me now that a girl weight 110 lbs (I was into ballet dancing and gym stuff at the time) and had C cup boobs, I'd think that was pretty good!! By the time I finally got away from the idiot guys I grew up with, and got comfortable with my body and realised boobs aren't only to be constrained as tight as possible against the body and hidden at all costs, I had gained 30 lbs and was self conscious for all new reasons! Oy!
Luckily, coming to England and getting away from every single thing that ever made you feel ugly or fat or anything has made me gain SO MUCH confidence. I feel so better in my own skin, and I like my boobs (from time to time) and my body and everything feels so much better. I think the boyfriend helped with that a lot.
Um, to make a long story short... That is why I am glad my boyfriend is a boob man. Yay. But I can still be glad that there are men like Jamie who aren't. Yay again!

I haven't followed this whole thread, but I got bits and pieces -- obviously, I didn't miss the male posts -- and I'll just add this: I'm damn glad hubby is a boob man! Double D here, and the only one of us who enjoys them is him. They're heavy, weigh me down, cause my bra straps to dig into my shoulders, put a strain on my back, and always get in my way. I went to a plastic surgeon a few years back and said, "cut these things down for me!" He took off my shirt and bra, marked me up, took pictures, and sent the pics to my insurance company. Unfortunately, it was VERRRRY expensive, and my insurance refused to pay, even though I had a good claim that they were causing back problems. ARGH!

All you "B" cup women, LUCKY YOU!

In my next life I'm comin' back as a man.

Steph, I really enjoyed your post. Looks, body types, attraction. They are all complicated things. The thing to remember for everybody, both guys and girls, is there really isn't one perfect body type. That's the great thing about this world in that everybody has different tastes.

I totally agree with you in that the ideal partner is someone who likes what you got. ie. The fact that your boyfriend is a 'boob man'.

My particular taste in women is probably similar to your old 'idiot' friends, although I prefer brunettes. BUT, that's just my personal preference, each of my roommates likes different physical features in women. Actually, a couple of them thing I have awful taste in women! Just as girls like different physical features in guys. Suprisingly, not all women like skinny pilots but, there are some that do (they're just hiding).

I've gotten in trouble before with female friends who will actually get mad at me that I find skinny girls attractive, which I really don't think is fair. I am not mean about it, I know LOTS of guys that prefer women with some curves and I NEVER put down how a women looks.

ok, I'm rambling on so maybe I should just get to the point. And yes this will sound 'sappy after school special' ish, but I think it's important to for people to be proud of what they've got, and realize that everybody has got different tastes and that every woman is beautiful in her own way. Most guys are too, (except for the ones with really bad back hair and who wear speedos at the beach)

OH OH OH, I do have one more comment regarding women and breasts. While the majority of guys will not be rude about it, ladies, if you go out to a club or bar and wear a super low cut shirt, guys ARE going to look at your boobs. It's like a deer caught in headlights. ok, there, rant over

If you are not boob men, than what is the main physical attribute that you are attracted to? For some reason, there are mostly boob guys around me, so I never dated too much, My boyfriend now has dated all shapes and sizes- he is more of a total package kinda guy.
My natural asset is my legs- no matter how skinny I have been I have always had nice shapely long legs

not about the coming back as a man part, tho. i'm coming back as a freakin' pampered poodle, man. someone can carry me around in a Gucci bag and feed me some choice food. heck, paint my toenails- what do i care!?

but about the big ones--- geez. more trouble than they're worth. i'm "only" a D, but what a pain! literally. and ya can't wear cute bras when you're a big girl. nor can you wear cute tops, backless tops, strapless tops....

i attract my share of "boob men" and lemme tell ya- they can have 'em.

the only problem is, they always want to pay attention to the boobs and i get nuffin' out of it.

ah well, such is life.

at least they work in my favor sometimes! my best friend and i have a joke--- "confuse 'em with the breasts." if we need to, we can always wave them in some guys face and get him all confused. they'll do just about anything at that point!

(even kiss you in the parking lot!!!! )

Good one, WACW!

Say.... somethin' I been meanin' to ask you for awhile and keep forgetting: did you ever get the audio e-mail I sent you awhile back, "The Man Song"? I never got a response, and it MUST be because you didn't get it -- otherwise, you'd have fallen apart. It's GOOOOOOOOOD.

I sent it to our Miss Mags, but she didn't get it either; it's a real big file, and apparently her ISP has a "cut-off" point on byte size. I had to ultimately send it to her at another e-mail address, and this time she got it. She loved it and made me send it to her office so she could share it with everyone there. (What a wild and crazy office, eh?!)

I'm outa bed now and feeling much better, although lots of gas. You know, I have a feeling Steph's new doctor might have hit upon the "cause" of this IBS crap -- a problem we have with how we digest our food more than what kind of food it is? I totally ate all IBS-safe stuff yesterday; there was no reason for my early morning attack, no reason at all.

I'm thinkin' maybe it's time to just stop eating altogether, damnitalltohell ....

When I was younger, I was totally self conscious about how flat chested I was. I was a very skinny kid in general -- my nickname in grade school was "Toothpick" which I hated!

The best thing I ever did for my body image and self esteem was join a health club/gym. I finally realized that my body was as good as, if not better, than most women (other than supermodels, actresses and porn stars!). After seeing all the variety of shapes and sizes of boobs, butts, legs, arms and tummies, I realized I was pretty hot stuff after all!!

PS Jamie, LOVE the deer in the headlights analogy! I can do the same thing in a business meeting with my legs, which still aren't bad for a 50 year old!! Men are so easy! One of my female employees used to crack up whenever I did it. I had to swear her to secrecy.

so what part of ireland? orange or green? orange here. not proud of it though. this is wierd typing without caps at the beginning of sentences. maybe i'll get used to it, although it's actually causing me to make a lot of typos.

cramps this morning, won't go away. what's going on here? think I'll break down and take an equalactin. this is weird; I feel like i'm talking in a monotone voice..... not sure i like it.... my sentences seem to ramble from one to another .... how many more hours 'till wild and crazy and cute bartender guy? .... somebody stop me......

you make me laugh!

yeah, it took me a while to get used to typing like this. watch out! i did it making fun of one of my best friends and it kinda grew on me.

it does make your sentences sorta drift off.... into these dot thingies....

so what IS the deal with your tummy? BEVRS- are you stressed about this house? that's not unusual, but maybe if that's the reason it will get better if you confront it!? i mean, you know you had a horrible experience before (float boat) and now you're seeing this house come in to being (yay!) so you could have lots of "good" stress and some "bad" stress hiding out.

just a thought...

SMOOCHES, bbB!

yeah, i don't know what's goin' on with my tummy. lately it's really been bothering me in the mornings. this is the third day....

Oh, hell! I can't do that anymore. I leave it to you.

This morning I was just cramped up something fierce, for several hours. I was determined it was going to go away without medication, so I just "forced" it. I totally put my mind on something else and got up out of bed, made the bed, got dressed, fixed breakfast, and about an hour later the cramps went away. Now I can tell I'm good to go.

I even helped Don move all the furniture from one wall into the center of the room, got out the paint and started mixing it while he taped the wall -- and I'm ready to roll!

So does that make any sense to you? You think it might be stress and/or excitement? We have 36 days to closing, and that means moving in. But I am a little nervous about the builder leaving next week for 10 days in Haiti, and the work on the house coming to a screeching halt 'till he returns. I haven't called a mover 'cause I don't know the true move-in date, and I know they need notice, haven't called the phone company, ISP, cable company, gas & electric, garbage, water, haven't even put in a change of address notice, and the clock is ticking.... oh my ....

Think I might be a little stressed out? Think that could do it?

I'm a mess.

P.S.: I LUV to poke fun with you; you're THE BEST and the FUNNEST, Girlfriend!

Hey Sis,

What's going on with these cramps??? It definitely could be stress and we know a lot of that is going on over there. Do you have any "D" with the cramps?? Are you sure you aren't eating or drinking anything different...even vitamins or gum or mints???? I worry about you.....you have been doing so good. At least, it is only in the morning and it doesn't seem to be slowing you down.....I think that would be hard to do.

I have "cabin fever" today... it has been raining here for about 4 days and expecting to rain another 3 days. I don't like to go to far from home on rainy days ....something about fear of being stranded in a flood.....Anyway, I have just about worn the vacuum out and dusted every piece of furniture at least twice. Now I am watching a soap opera. Somebody is having her husband's brother's baby and she already had a baby by her daughter's husband..Won't they ever learn???

I don't handle stress well. Never did. Even when I was rowing competitively, one of the gals on my crew was a professional masseuse, and after a good workout on the water, when I should have been all relaxed and "loose," she started massaging my shoulders -- just for the hellofit -- and commented to me, "wow, are you TIGHT!"

Hey! Think maybe I might need a massage?

No cabin fever here! The condo is torn apart. We just finished painting the left side of the living room and moved all the furniture back. That's really all we can paint 'till I disconnect this computer and move out the desk -- and that ain't gonna happen 'till we do it for good.

36 more days .... the clock is ticking .... wonder what they're doing down there, how much work they're getting done? ARGH! It's torture, staying away, going down there only twice a week.

Think I'll shower and then make a trip over to our favorite nursery with pictures of the new property and see what recommendations they have for a natural landscaping....

Can't sit still.

Thanks again, Sis!
