I've heard of that stuff. How do you use it? Do you put it on your wash cloth and then scrub your fun parts?

You're selling yourself short. If you used to get them but don't anymore, then what are you no longer doing that you used to do back then? Wait a minute.... nah, can't be that.

You solved the problem, Doc! So how'dja do it?!

Did changing your laundry detergent really make that much of a difference? What about your fabric softener? (I love Downey.) Do you think that could be the culprit?

I'm pretty convinced it's the soap in my bath. I love Oscar liquid body bath, but I ran out so used Zest bar soap (I love the smell). I really hate Ivory and Dove. Ew.

I think I might have to go lightly on the soap in that area, and then after my bath take the hand shower and spray down there to make sure I rinse off all the soap. Of course, once we move into the new house and I have my jetted tub, I'll just .... oooh ... uh, never mind.....

So do you drink the Ocean Spray ALL the time? Or just when you feel the UTI coming on? And how much do you drink? Is it better than plain old water?

My mom used to get infections all the time, so the things she taught us were as follows:

1. Use "free and clear" detergents and use the extra rinse. Don't wash anything funny with your undergarments.
2. Wear cotton underwear to allow proper "breathing."
3. Drink lots of water.
4. Don't sit on cold surfaces (sounds weird, I know).
5. Wash private parts with lots of water but nothing else.
6. Cranberry juice helps to cure infections.
7. Mom didn't teach me this one, but JenX is right: pee after sex.

Hope this helps.

How are ya, Girlfriend?! I just love to see your pretty face on your posts.

So you used to get UTIs but don't anymore? Is it because you no longer have sex? (Okay, sorry, that was just plain MEAN. Sometimes I can't control myself.)

So you no longer get UTIs because you always take showers? Or switched to Ivory?

I think the idea about your niece is a good one. Maybe I'll try using the hand shower massage after my bath (just to rinse off, mind you....)

It'll be the soap, I bet...just switch to a feminine-friendly ( ) brand and you'll be fine and dandy. I could never give up my baths.

Changing the laundry detergent did help especially with the irritation. And I forgot, the downy may irritate, too.
I love Downy but I use it on towels, etc. just not on underwear.

The Oscar body bath and zest soap could be causing it, too.
I don't like Ivory soap but the Dove isn't bad.

If you really don't want to give up the sweet smelling stuff try the probiotics, first. That may take care of it.

My doc told me that after menopause your tissue in "that area" changes and gets irritated and sometimes it can mimic a UTI. Everytime I went in thinking I had a UTI she tested and said, no. She gave me some Estrace Hormone Creme to use in "that area". Ask you doc about it next time you go in.. I'm glad my husband is on blood pressure meds because he is slowing down equivalent to my menopause changes.
We are on the same wavelength.....whew!

I will hold back the image of you in the whirlpool!! Ha Ha

Blood pressure meds does that? REALLY? I'm taking them too -- so does it do it to me too? Even though I'm 10 years younger than my hubby?

Your doc is right; the tissue is this area has most definitely gotten irritated! I've been using Vagisil moisturizer (say, you don't think that caused the irritation, do you?)?

Estrace Hormone Cream? HEY! I have some of this stuff! My doc prescribed it for me a hundred years ago, but I never used it. Think it's still any good? So do you insert it way up there, or just dab it around the area? Sorry, but I really want to know how you use this; it might be the answer for me.

Thanks, Barbie! You're a gem!
