Hey - I was just wondering if anyone uses tanning beds. Ive been wanting to try them but just havent! Theres no awful side effects for IBSers is there!? I know that some medicines say not to do it - Ill have to check mine and see if its ok (Hyoscamine) I know this is off the subject but thats why I posted it in the living room!

Good idea to check your meds. I am on Singulair for asthma, and it has made me more sensitive to the sun. I was not as smart as you. I didn't ask my doctor about that! I haven't hit the tanning beds since college, mostly because I am afraid of getting wrinkles. The only thing I'd be worried about, IBS-wise, is the heat. A lot of people have heat-related attacks. If you are sensitive to the heat, just watch out for that.
Have fun, you bronze goddess!

Hate to disappoint you but just read an article in "Health" magazine that states there are MORE cases of skin cancer and wrinkles from tanning beds than the natural sun ....the ads are false...they'd make you believe they were safer than the real sun.

But hey, you live in Vegas........so why would you even need a tanning bed?

Don't forget a good sunscreen!!!

Kandee's right - these things are bad for you! You'd be better off in the real sun with sunscreen.

I went to a tanning bed awhile back as preparation for a cruise I was taking. I'm extremely fair skinned, so my mom thought if I could get a "base" tan then maybe I wouldn't burn so badly in the Carribbean!

Anyways, I did 8 minutes on their lowest setting and had the worst burn of my life! those things are powerful! I must admit, I found the heat to be incredibly relaxing on my tummy, but the burn was not worth it. I'm a skin cancer case just waiting to happen.
