I've been temping for the last couple of days so I couldn't visit the board, but can I join in now?

*What talent or gift do you wish you possessed???
I wish I had the ability to make friends easily. It seems to take me a very long time to make friends, if at all. I'm definitely a love her or hate her kinda gal. I wish I had the ability to be one of those people who's invited everywhere and part of the "cliques" instead of little ol' loner me.

*Which of your current talent(s)/power(s) would you refuse to give up for all the tea in China??

Being a grad student, I would say my super super fast reading and reading comprehension skills. If I didn't have those I'd have to watch far less TV during the school year and couldn't spend anytime hanging on this board!

I come from a family of educators. My grandfather was Assistant State Superintendent in Michigan. It's a gift to be a good one. I know, I ended up teaching at my job, and I was damn good at it and I loved it.

Jen's right, no such thing as "just a teacher!" Nope. No way.

You know, I have a good singing voice too. One problem, crippling stage fright. So what good does it do if I can only sing for myself, my dogs, my cat, and my husband???

Oh, my goodness do I have a book for you! (And you're studying performance?????). It's called ... shoot I can't think of it. I'll go find it and post later. Anyway, it helped me overcome 40 years of stage fright in playing the piano for other people to hear.

Awesome. I'd love to hear about it. And I STUDY performance. Big emphasis on the STUDY. I don't DO any myself.

Hey Kree,
Do you like Monty Python? I bought a whole bunch of their tapes off ebay because I loved them as a kid.

Oh my, guess I should rephrase my statement. Don't get me wrong, I've had fun teaching, and lots of challenges along the way. (Ever teach a blind woman how to sew?) And I might add, successes. Plus, instead of getting stuck teaching High School I got to go on to Adult Ed (my love) which I still do on a part time bases for Cal State.

I suspect it's now in my later years I regret not having had the ABILITY to be the professional in a field that I would have loved but when I was considering it was typically male dominated, plus I didn't have the smarts to even get into those schools....The salary and retirement that goes along with those professions would have been an added bonus.

But everything happens for a reason...........and so I count my blessings and am happy I could contribute to the betterment of society along the way..........

Thanks for pumping me up, colleagues!!!

Case closed?

Kandee
