Okay, girls, we have got to get organised again! Since Amy left, we haven't been posting.
Anyway...my good news is that I now fit (only just in some cases, but that'll do!) back into a UK size 12 (is that an 8 or a 10 US???)! Wahoo! Most importantly, this is the size of my wedding dress! My bad news is that I haven't actually lost any weight for ages! Must be all the muscles I'm putting on.

Congrats sweetie! Actually, a UK 12 is a big 6. So you're even skinnier than you think. And having more muscle is good... ups your metabolism so you can eat more!

Linzy, you GO, girl!
I'd kill to be a size 6. When I turned 40, I figured I couldn't do anything about my old age (!) but I could do something about my size and shape. I starved myself and did 2 aerobic classes a day. Got down to a size 6. Gained it all back and then some! My body just does not like a size 6!
You rock, Girlfriend! You'll look gorgeous in that wedding dress. Congratulations!

well, Linzy, first i will congratulate you! i'm so proud of you and your skinny self! tell me what you're doing to get so skinny!?
i, personally, must be on a weight-gain program. i think i got signed up on the wrong list. (!?!? !?!?!) how did hat happen!?
ok, i have to cut the sugaa. now how many times have i said that and i just can't get around to it! ok. cut the sugaa. yes. that's what i must do.
then i will continue my rapid-fire and impressive exercise routine of one 5-minute walk a day. (whew! don't be intimidated, folks, you can't all be athletes like me!)
aside from that, i've got nuthin'.
i miss Sgt. Happy Day. she was good at yelling at me and therefore scaring ("inspiring") me into obeying the diet plan!

It's funny how everybody wishes for different things. I just got my aviation medical renewed last week and I lost 17 pounds in the past year. That was above 10% of my body weight and I'm now lighter than I was when I finished highschool. Before IBS I was 10 lbs lighter than I wanted to be, so now I'm closer to 25 lbs lighter than I want to be.
anybody want to trade 20 lbs?
I am a little disappointed, but my IBS/career seems to be a little better under control so that's the first step, not losing more weight is the next step and gaining it back and starting to work out again is the third step.

Yes!! Tell me your weightloss secrets. I feel like a beached whale right now, and I'm getting depressed. I just want to go back to my normal size. I am by no sense of the word large (trust me I don't have screwed up body image) .. I'm usually a 2 or a 4. Now my fours are getting too tight, and forget about the 2's. This weight gain kinda crept up on me for the past few months outta no where. One day my clothes didn't fit. which does nothing for a persons self image. I wonder if its all the carbs I now eat cause of this ibs shiznit. I used to stay away from extra bread and pasta cause it supposively packs on the pounds. Anyways, All the lowrise clothes aren't helping, because they only accentuate big bellies, cause by no means do they hold them in, and my belly is my problem spot. All through college I had a flat flat flat belly. Then after graduation it got huge.. FAST. I've bought windsor pilates but it hasn't helped.. so please tell me your secrets!!

AN EXAMPLE!! BY AN INCREDIBLY BLUNT B#@$#H
About a month ago.. at my grandmothers funeral OF ALL PLACES.. at the reception after, one of my grandmothers friends came up to my sister and said oh is that your sister over there.. refering to me. She was like yes, and the lady said wow you are so much skinnier than her. Then she came up to me in front of my aunt and boyfriend who can vouch for this, and said I hardly recognize you. I have pictures of you when you used to be skinny. Now you're all chubby. AHHHHH can you believe it. I was mortified. My aunt and sister and boyfriend sat there cracking up at how blunt this lady was. But apparently it is noticable.

You guys are so funny. I still weigh more than 10stone (140 pounds?), so I don't quite understand how I fit into my clothes, but hey, I'm not gonna argue!
Um, I don't have a secret. I have been trying to follow WeightWatchers, but I'm not very good at it! I have been a lot more active than I was (thank you Fibro for the mini-break!) and I'm starting to feel fitter now - get this...I can actually run up an escalator occasionally!!!!

Hi,
I just heard on TV that a dentist can make a device for you that is something like a retainer thing that fits in your upper mouth and when you eat you can only eat small bites and therefore you eat slower and then your body tells you it is full before it would have if you ate big bites really fast! Whew ! Anyway this dentist said they had done studies and people had lost an average of 10 lbs in a month. The device costs about $600. Don't think I'm nuts, I'm just the messenger.

I used to commute to work by bus. It took 2-1/2 hours one way -- so I did a lot of knitting on the bus. I sat right behind the driver.
Some time passed after I stopped commuting and began working at a new job closer to our home. I joined a rowing club and began competing, working out constantly, getting less skinny and nice and "buff." I thought I looked better.
But one day at a Christmas party for the rowing club members, I met a member's husband who knocked me off my feet. He turned to me and said, "Hey, I remember you! I used to be on the same bus with you. You used to sit behind the driver and knit a lot. Yeah, that was you. What happened to you? You used to be so nice and thin!"
Whaddya say to a wise guy like that? "Oh yeah? Well, I may be fat, but I can lose weight. You're ugly!"

Yeah, I saw this on TV. I didn't know it was $600; I thought it was ONLY $500! Such a bargain.
Yeah, you eat smaller bites -- but more of them!
Think I'll pass.

And please tell my little friend that our new back yard is a forest, too thick to walk through, but full of beautiful trees and wild ferns. And deer too!

I am so jealous! Savannah and I are so mad that all the trees around here are being cut down to build houses. Then they complain about all the deer so allow people to go hunt them. I hate that! Savannah wants to know about your old backyard on the water. She also wants to know the name of your dog and what kind of dog he is. I should just have her post the messages!

Ugh me too -- lately I feel like such a fatty-fat. I'm finally finished with finals (so now I'm back on the message boards) but of course I was snacking a lot. I don't own a scale (got scary-addicted to it in high school) so I don't know if I've put on actual pounds, but I feel really gross. I do think some of it is bloating from adjusting to my daily dose of citrucel. It's just really hard for me because I was always teeny-tiny, didn't reach normal weight range until college ... and now I'm in law school, and somehow not being abnormally thin is in my mind a bad thing. I'm also usually a 2, but have lots of 0s and some 4s. I can mostly fit into the 4s, but they are kind of my back-up clothes for when I'm not happy with my body. Hopefully all the traveling and other fun in London this summer will help me shed a few pounds. I would love to be about 5 - 10 pounds lighter and FIT (not bony), but who knows if that will ever happen. Yesterday a friend I've known since I was 12 said this was the healthiest she'd ever seen me. I know that is supposed to be a compliment, but does anyone remember the children's story Little Johnny Stick ? When I hear "healthy," it makes me think of Dimply Dot. Ok enough of my ramblings ... good luck to all you other Losers.

Not impossible at all! The trick is to do lots and lots of easy reps, instead of fewer harder (heavier) reps. Yoga or pilates are great for toning up without bulk.

On behalf of Kenzie, thanks Savannah and Linzy! He's an absolutely adorable dog. Wherever we go, he causes a commotion. He loves people SOOO much, especially LITTLE people. If he sees a little child, he goes crazy, crying, until we ask the parent if it would be okay for Kenzie to get a little petting. They always oblige. Kenzie licks the kid all over while whining (kinda like a whimper); kids eat it up. It's absolutely adorable.
He likes to play with his plush bone with the squeeker in it. He'll bring it to us for us to throw for him. But he likes to tease. After you throw it for him, he'll bring it back, drop it in front of you, then as soon as you reach for it, he stomps his paw on top so you can't grab it.
He's so funny. A lot of times I'll throw the bone, and he'll run to get it, then turn around, look at me, come running back to me and give me a big wet kiss on my big nose. He just cracks me up.
It was fun sharing him with you guys!

Wow! I never knew anyone who had a hedgehog. What's it like to raise Gracie? What IS a hedgehog anyway? (See how stupid I am?)
Does she sleep in the house? What do you feed her? How old does she get to be? Do you breed her? (How?)
A hedgehog! I want a picture! I want a picture!

Well, I'm still struggling! I'm up to 5 miles on my eliptical 3-4 days a week and curves 2-3 days a week. At one point I was a 16! Starved and worked out like crazy, got down to a 6! That didn't last too long. I leveled off at an 8, which was just fine. I'm a solid 10 now! GRRR! I try to watch what I eat but we have been so busy lately we have been eating out a lot more than usual, not good for the waist line! I really want to get back into my 8's before I get pregnant. Everyone tells me how much harder it is to lose weight after a baby! If I had to choose between being a little plump or being pregnant, I would take pregnant in a second! I'm still waiting to ovulate this month, may take longer becasue of the recent miscarriage, but hope to post soon that I am pregnant!

Our Gracie is way cuter than the picture. She has a white face and yes she is covered with prickles, but they lay down nicely so you can pet her when she is calm. Many people keep their hedgehogs like household pets, but with having dogs, and not wanting to find poop everywhere Gracie is confined to a cage with lots of fun things inside to keep her busy. I think Hedgehogs live for about 6 years. I love your description of the General. I can just see him going bonkers for kids. Dogs are the best!

Hey everyone! I'm glad that we're back on again. Today is my birthday and I'm turning the big 27. I don't feel different but my five year old says I'm old. I need to watch my intake of food today. Yesterday wasn't good and I'm afraid I'm going to devour cake and cookies, etc. But I shouldn't beat myself up over these failures. I do need to stop them though!! It's like a binge eat or something. I feel like a food addict. I have even gained eight pounds since two months ago!! I think it's because I started taking my anxiety meds and now I haven't had a problem with my IBS (knockon wood) and I have started eating more than usual. Not necessarily bad foods, but I'm consuming more and I'm not burning it off. Help!! I need some motivation!! AmandaPanda, you really woke my eyes up yesterday. I'm unfortunately riding on a 14/16 and I need to lose about 30 more pounds and I'll be good for my height. After having three kids in 4 1/2 years, I packed on 70 pounds with my first and it's killing me. So I have lost all of that and now I'm dealing with my prebaby weight that I had. The really hard stuff!!! I will never be a 4 or a 6 or 8 for that matter, but a nice 10/12 would be very great!! I need advice and some suggestions!! Please help me! I need to stop this eating frenzy!!

I'm struggling also but try to get some exercise in there somewhere. I try to eat small meals and snacks through out the day. I find If I let myself get too hungry, than I go into feeding frenzy mode! Try to keep a water bottle next to you at all times, the more water you drink the less food you will want to eat, or so I have been told! Another trick I have is: after making dinner, I serve out my plate than put all the leftover food away BEFORE I sit down to eat, that way I don't nibble on the leftovers as I'm putting them away, or say "gee, theres only a little left, might as well eat it."
Happy birthday to you!

Thats my story.....same sizes too. I'm getting pretty ticked that my clothes aren't fitting I think my problem has to do with my lack of energy...so I'm not burning as many calories. Hopefully when I get back my energy I'll work out again.
I also bought Windsor pilates too. I was doing good on it and then got sick....haven't had the energy to do it for over a month. I'm getting mad...I was planning on being toned and fit for the summer. Well I guess that ain't happening! I too want to lose like 5-10 lbs!!!!
So good luck to the both of us!!! I don't want to buy bigger clothes...so I better loose this weight that I gained!!!!

Hi Steph!
I totally aggree with you. I definitly don't want to buy new clothes and I've got to do something about this fast. I was doing pilates a few times a week and it has helped tone me up in some places, but not enough. I have been slacking big time on doing it lately. I need to get back on track.
I too wanted to get fit this summer, but it looks like i'm running out of time. good luck.. maybe its all that candy we are eating.. aparently we are both swedish fish addicts. I'm sure that doesn't help.
