Si and I got our house today! We went and picked up the keys and went round there this afternoon! It's SOOOOO exciting!
Loads of work needs doing though, a bit more than we realised, but hey. It'll look amazing when we're finished with it! And I've got a garden of my own - finally!
Yippee!

Linz, that's VERY exciting. Yes, I SOOO know how you feel. Gee, and you have a GARDEN as well?! YIPPEE! It's an established garden? A flower garden? Any veggies or herbs?
What FUN! Yeah, we really need to see some pictures, Girlfriend. Please share.

That is so exciting when you get the keys and it is yours! Lots of happy times ahead, creating a home ....starting a family...all really good stuff. Congratulations!

It's an ickle garden (this is England, after all - it cost enough as it is!) but its mine!
Okay pics...hmmm...this doesn't usually work, but here goes.
All I've got so far is the one of the front of the house from the estate agents website. And the front of the house is very boring! But it's got off-road parking which is a big step up from where we are now!
I think I'll mow the lawn before I take picctures to show you guys - atm it's a mess!

Congratulations, Linz! A pretty little red brick house of your own!! And yeah I know how much off road parking is worth, living here in Manhattan! You see people circling the blocks for ever looking for a parking spot! The old joke is a couple was out for a walk and the guy sees a parking spot and says to his wife, "Quick, honey, lie down there. I'll go buy a car!"
As for the garden, all I have is a window box -- I am SO jealous!!

Yeah, I'm jealous too. We're getting a new house, but it's in a wooded setting with all ferns around, no garden at all. (Well, I guess you'd call it a fern garden, eh?)
Linz, I'm very excited for you! This is a real special time, having your own home. Do you have a lawn mower? (Just one of those hand jobbies will work fine on a small lawn; we have one, but of course we'll never use it now.)
I see it's two stories? How many bedrooms? And how old is it? Do you have a fireplace? And how about your neighbors? Have you met them yet? Will you have them in for tea? And crumpets?
What the hell are crumpets anyway? ...

Well, a wooded setting near a lake sounds very nice actually! I love trees - I'm so chuffed (ie. happy ) that there's a mature little tree in my garden - I hadn't even noticed it when I viewed the house! But a wood would be nice!
We don't have a lawn-mower yet - it's on our list of things to buy this weekend! With many, many things like a phone and a kettle!
It's 3 bedrooms, but we're going to make the smallest into an office. Built in 1969 I think, but no, we don't have a fireplace . It's an ex-council house (do you guys HAVE council houses) so it wasn't built to be luxurious - but it will be soon!
Haven't actually met the neighbours yet, though I saw the lady next door today and she smiled, so that's a start!
Crumpets?...I have no idea how to explain crumpets!

Well, the house ain't scary - it's the mortgage that's scary!
You've gotta come visit sometime! Maybe when I organise the 2005 UK get-together???!!! You've just got to come see the UK... Ireland, the New Forest, our country pubs (they're cool I promise!)... oh, and me!
I'll try and take some piccies this w/e and scan them in. The garden's going to be very English. I love lots of delicate and scented flowers. And I want to make a space for doing yoga. And I'm definitely going to put a herb garden by the patio. The garden's on a slope, with a small paved area at the back of the house and then a retaining wall with steps leading up onto the rest of the garden. I can't wait to get to grips with it!!!

Congrats Linz & Si... it is a cute brick house.....
I SO want a house too!!
I was just thinking that at lunch today when driving in a neighborhood where people just don't care for the yards etc.... it makes me SO MAD.... I would love to have a house and a yard to make pretty and be OURS.... and then people like that take it for granted. Oh well...... our day is coming sometime in the next few years.
ENJOY your new home.... and keep the pics coming as you make it YOUR OWN!!
