two things, tornados and electricity. both stem from youthful traumas. i actually saw a tornado out the front window of our house when i was 5 or 6. i thought i'd dreamt it but my mom confirmed it recently. it's one of my standard nightmares to this day.
about the same age i stuck a hair pin in an electrical outlet and got knocked cold. now i can't stand to be in the same room as andy when he's changing a fuse much less rewiring an outlet or something.
but the tornado one is really scary. even though i've never ever seen another one since.

Spiders!!!! I hate spiders....the little ones don't bother me....like the size of a head of a pen....but any bigger than that and that's the end of me! Also formally speaking in front of large crowds. ....and the loss of someone close to me like husband or close family.

Ick, I hate really big moths! One flew into our house last year that I thought was a small bird at first it was so stinkin huge! I hid under a chair...You just reminded me though of how afraid of cochroachs I am. When I was 11 we were in Hawaii and this gigantic cochroach flew into my hair and got stuck! They had to use a fork to get it out....whenever I am in Hawaii and it's dark I refuse to wear my hair down. *Shivers*

Megs, OOOOOHHHH...cockroaches are SICK!!! I hate those just as much as moths, but thank God they are not around my area quite as much. But if I saw one in my house, I would definitely scream and freak out!! I wish my cats would kill the bugs, but all they do is paw them and stare with amazement and curiosity! I'm like, "Kill the bug, Andy! Kill it!" And he just looks at me and then looks at the bug and does nothing.

Well.. as of this morning, I am scared of the creepy bug that is now floating dead in my bathtub (hopefully)! Ick.

When I wake up in the morning, I head directly for the shower and am usually still half asleep until the middle of my shower. So this morning when I went to turn on the water, I noticed this huge bug! I'm still not sure what the heck it is, but it's bigger than my thumb and looks like it comes from some desert country.

So I went to get a newspaper to let the little guy crawl on so I could dump him outside.. and he scurries so fast that I bet he'd clock almost 3 MPH. I'm not about to try to trap him now so I turn on the water to try to drown him.. and the creepy thing starts swimming!!

Needless to say I washed my hair in the kitchen sink and sponged today, and last I saw, the darn thing was still doing the backstroke in my tub.

Luckily I never have to take a shower again in that tub since I'm moving tomorrow and can just take a shower there. That's one way to get rid of a bug. LOL

And besides the creepy thing in my bathtub, I'm afraid of needles and falling from extreme heights.

Hey, LS, this story reminds me of my electrical shock treatment. I can't use the excuse that I was only 5 or 6, because it happened in 1974 when I was 30 years old.

We had just moved into a real old cottage on the coast. It was a total dump. We tore the place apart and completely "re-charmed" it. I mean, COMPLETELY, down to the electrical outlets in the walls. I removed the plates and found millions of cobwebs. Ew. Clever me, I took my screw driver to remove the cobwebs, accidentally touched the electrical wires, and BAM!

The shock actually threw me across the room and slammed me up against the far wall. What a jolt....

But we sure ended up with nice, clean electrical outlets!
