I'm still trying to narrow mine down, so I was wondering what anyone else had for their 1st dance, father/daughter, etc. I think our first dance will be a Nora Jones (I love her voice), but I'm having trouble deciding which one!

Hey Mags... this is a tough choice, huh? We didn't really have a "song" per se, because we played Ultimate Frisbee for our reception, no dancing! But at our ceremony we had our friend sing Shawn Colvin's song, "Never Saw Blue" and "In My Life" by the Beatles. And we walked down the aisle to a violin duet (more friends) of "At My Most Beautiful" by REM.

And I love Norah Jones voice too. And her name. Right now Norah is our favorite name if/when we have a girl.

....we didn't have a "first dance" or any dancing....hubby and I aren't much for dancing....but what we did was put together a video slide show of photos of us and family put to music and used Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me". Wasn't a dry eye in the church. We also had a "tissue bearer" instead of ring bearer and when she saw anyone crying she was instructed to pass out a tissue. Well, hubby got choked up and teary during his vows and she came up and gave him a tissue. So cute! Big chuckle from the guests.

Mags,

My wedding is May 15, and I have my songs picked out:

First dance: "Unchained Melody" - The Righteous Brothers

I don't remember, it was so long ago. All I remember is that the Catholic church back then wouldn't allow the all-popular Lowengren's Wedding March, much to my disappointment.

It didn't really matter, though, because I was oblivious at the time to anything around me, including the music. I'm really grateful for my wedding pictures so I can look back at what happened while I was out to lunch.

....hubby and I love "Unchained Melody". It's one of those "that's our song" moments whenever we hear it. We love the movie "Ghost"....it was part of his proposal to me.

I know, I love "Unchained Melody," too. My fiance and I really wanted to pick the perfect song that felt good to both of us. My mom had mentioned songs, but we just weren't "feeling" them.
But "Unchained Melody" is just such a beautiful song and gives me chills. It's going to make my future mother-in-law cry because she says she always cries when she hears it.

maybe you'll need a "tissue bearer" like we had instead of a ring bearer.
