What do you Brits call the big piece of upholstered furniture in your living room that everyone sits on to watch TV?

Hubby's mother was French Canadian, and she always called it a Chesterfield. I didn't understand what she was talking about, because in the U.S. a Chesterfield is a cigarette.

Here we call them couches or sofas.

What do you call them in Australia?

This is fun.

You're right. This is fun.

We call them couches or sofas as well, and also lounges (as in "something to lounge on").

OHH!! Thank you Bev. I now understand a line in a Barenaked Ladies song that I never got before.

"but we would eat Kraft Dinner"
"Of course we would, we'd just eat more"

Do they call it Kraft Dinner in the states or is it Kraft Mac and Cheese?

MMMM, Kraft Dinner... I miss it

We call them sofas usually. Chesterfield is an old, posh maker of furniture. It's also used to describe a style of sofas - usually leather and button-studded.

LOL!! Yep, you definitely have to be careful when saying you love barenaked ladies.

I love the BAND too!! (Just safegaurding myself there, lol) They put on the most fun live shows I've ever been to!

I love their shows, too. I've been to 6.

My little bro just saw them in Philly and is getting the CD for me for a belated birfday gift. (yeah, right! i'll believe it when i see it!)

but they're my fave live band for sure (except for the band I work for, that is!!)

These guys are so cool. I am so jealous of you guys seeing them live. They never seem to come over here (and if they do/did tickets would last, oh, about 5 seconds and I'm not that fast!).

What band do you work for Jen? I love music.

Yeah, they're great. As good as their music is, they're a kajillion times better live (sorry!). I took a friend who didn't even like them, and he had a great time. Said it was the best live show he'd ever seen which was a high compliment from him- he's a music snob!

I work for a local band called LC.. They used to be called Laughing Colors. They're great! They just recorded a wonderful new album and we're hoping it gets them signed. Then you'll all know who they are and I won't be able to get into the shows! I sell merchandise for them at the shows. No big deal, but it's fun. They're a great bunch of guys. I've been a fan of theirs since 1992!

Well, like I said, they just released one. They have 7 total (they've been playing a long time!).

If you check out the site (LC), you can hear some of their music. And then there's a link to buy their CDs. I doubt you can find them in music stores anywhere, 'cause they're not a national act, yet.

This new CD is their best one yet! (And I'm a tough critic!)
