What's the best gift (be it material or non-material) that you got on valentines?

What was my favorite Valentine gift? Well, I've been married 37 years now, so there have been a lot of Valentine gifts -- but the one that I remember most was actually the worst.
Hubby and I had been married only 4 years, and we decided to surprise each other that year. What I wanted was a new light fixture for the entryway, but he surprised me instead with a new pair of Adidis running shoes. Boy, was I disappointed!
Hubby wanted rollers for his bike so he could train inside. I surprised him instead with an old beat-up wooden desk from my office that I thought he might enjoy refinishing and putting in the den. He hated it.
We don't surprise each other anymore. This year I'm giving him a sweater and he's giving me a bottle of Oscar. BORING!
Sounds like old married farts, don't it?!

I buy my own and then say, "look what you bought me---I just LOVE it, thank you so much darling".
I'm NEVER disapointed, nor am I surprized, but when you've been married a loooooong time it's more important not to be disapointed each and every year. If you are, you have to wait a whole year for them to make up for last year's mistake!
BTW, I try and out do myself over last year.....that way the next Val. day will ALWAYS be better than the last.
Kooky way of looking at it, I know, but it works for me!(Let's see, this year, what color do you think my Beemer should be? )

I don't really have a favorite that stands out. My fiance makes me dinner and I'm not allowed to do anything but relax on the couch. Plus I get the bear, chocolates (well, not anymore LOL), flowers, etc. He's so sweet. I'm so lucky!
What stands out to me the most though is the WORST I've ever gotten. I think I was 19 and my boyfriend bought my a carton of Marlboro's and a fake rose. Needless to say, I dumped him. LOL

Yeah - if I'd have kept them, imagine how much they'd be worth today!

I was reading this thinking what my best gift was and then it dawned on me, MADELINE!!! She was born 6 years ago on Friday February 13th. Ok, she was born the day before but for Valentine's day the hospital offered a special dinner for the new parents. Tory brought both of us roses. It was such a great day. We came home the next day and I still remember everything about that weekend. We had no snow and it was so sunny. Our house was so bright and inviting, it was perfect.

That was my brand back in 1962. I remember buying two cartons (not packs, CARTONS) at a time. Total price per carton: $2.50

Last night I got the best or from an IBS prspective the worst Valentines gift. A bottle of merlot from Spain and a huge box of Godiva chocolates!
Tonight I plan on taking a dose of Acacia then pigging out on the chocolate and drinking enough wine to calm the spasms and pain.
Tomorrow morning it will be aspirin and zit cream.

I have several favorites - I like the little balloons on the stick knick-knacks - the little ones that say I love you and stuff like that. Like the one I have that's in a miniature (2-inch) flower pot. I have kept some of those for years. I enjoy giving flowers to my "better half." -- One other "gift" I remember is that my (late) parents had me baptized in the church on Feb. 14, 1960. I guess that could be a gift, too.
