Bentyl question

I've just been prescribed Bentyl for my IBS. Does anyone know if you HAVE to take it every day, or can I take it just when I need it? Thanx

Hey Kiwi!!
Long time no see... I still lurk from time to time.
I have been on Bentyl for years. I do take it every day at supper as it is usually a heavy meal, after which I usually have the most issues. I also will take an additional dose if I am eating out where I can't 100% guarantee there are not triggers.
I think you could take it as needed in the case of spasms already happening, however I was prescribed it to take as a preventative as my stomach spasms so badly after eating.
