What an embarrassing day. On Friday, a former employer emailed me and wanted me back as a part-time contractor. I signed the offer letter, filled out the W-4 and I9, and emailed everything back. My first day was supposed to be the 23rd.
Well, I thought Tuesday was the 23rd. Nope, it was Monday... missed it by 1 day.  
So began my comedy of errors!! I show up early in human resources on Tuesday with a thousand probable explanations whirling through my head.  But keep in mind, this is the office I was downsized from in December... people start walking through the lobby, staring at me. I ask to see 4 or 5 different people, it's early, but are they in? I get strange looks. Those people are no longer with the company. Huh?? There's a rumor they've split off to form their own company. OH CRAP, I realize, they're taking me with THEM.
So not only have blown the top off their plans, I've named names and and indicted myself as a co-conspirator!!!! All by 9am!!! 
Man, am I thick. My position is part time/on-call. They'll call me when they need me, UGH. I scram outta human resources, high-tail it out of the parking garage, and race home. Humiliated, I stripped off the uncomfortable work clothes and went to bed for 6 hours.
BF will be home soon and I get to tell him about my first day. Ugh, the complete and total embarrassment, If you've read this far I hope you can find the humor in this!! I'm sure in 6 month this will seem h i l l a r o u s to me!!!

Oh, gad, I don't know if they even know I was there. I check my email every day and keep my phone on... so far they haven't tried to reach me yet.
I hope they don't find out my gaffe!
Also, I have to get my new work pants altered, but I'm worried they'll call me in while they're at the tailor's. I am living in a life full of catch 22's.
