Good Friends

It matters not how a person has become battered, broken, and lost … it matters not whether that has happened by neglect, abuse, drugs, war, ill health, or any mistake of their own, or of others.

Whether it is a snotty nose drug addict, a child broken by abuse, a young mother left alone, a soldier arriving home missing body parts, a convict starting over, a senior saint lost and alone … it matters not.

Whether they are black, yellow, red, brown, or white… or Muslim, Jew, Christian, or atheist … it matters not.

Whether in jail, at home, at school, or standing on the corner …

A handshake, a smile, a nod of the head, a "howdy", "do you need hand", "something I can do?"… might be all that they ever need to pull themselves up.

Lifting and pulling. You can ride on my back.

Shoving almost never works … unless near a cliff.

The spirit whispers to us, and almost never shouts.

Thank you for this, Double J. It reminds me of part of one of my favorite books, In This House Of Brede. The Abbess is talking to one of the postulants about the difference between being right and being kind and says of Jesus' time of earth after the Resurrection:

Quote:

... he stayed on Earth and what did He do? He didn't try then to teach us, to bring us up - that was left to the Holy Spirit. He did simple ordinary loving things: loving things, Sister, like consoling Mary Magdalene, walking and talking with the disciples, breaking bread with them, cooking their breakfast.

It's rare to meet someone of any faith who truly lives their faith. I believe you are one of those rare people, Double J. I wish you and your entire family a blessed Easter.

Double J - You are a thoughtful, kind and caring man. I appreciate that you are trying to help aperson and others on the board. I feel that you have a lot to offer those that are suffering.

No need to pay any attention to someone who does not know you and choses to make a judgement that you are doing something inappropriate. You are not doing anything inappropriate and I know I am not alone in feeling this way about you and the importance of your imput on the boards.

No one has the right to tell you when to stop caring or giving. That is a personal decision and just because someone else thinks you are wrong doesn't mean that you are. The world would be a better place if more people cared as much about helping others as you do.

I always love chatting with you on the boards, Double J. It upsets me the way things have turned lately. I hope it doesn't scare you away. I hope you had a wonderful Easter!
