I think those things should be changed

"US Social Security certainly doesn't view it it as a qualifying illness for a disability"

I was reading a post on this site about places that have to open employee only bathroom's for people with digestive conditions where an emergency to use the toilet can happen...

This conversation has taken so many interesting turns! There is no draft in the US people are right who said that. BUT all MEN not women at age 18 do have to register for the selective service. I assume it is in case the draft is ever re-instated. aperson, as long as you are afemaleperson even if you are astraightfemaleperson you are NOT going to get drafted! I think you should rest assured, i think the people at your work are either misinformed or simply inventing their facts.

but why are they saying that women can get drafted too and only in the old days they couldn't,but you can only get out of it if you are pregnant or have a life threatening illness? but if it's true that being a woman atomatically makes me not be able to get drafted, then I love being a woman even more.

Well, other countries do require women to do mandatory service. And, since the time of the last US draft, the Vietnam war, there are many more women in the US military than before. I actually don't know if there were any women in the military then, its before my time... I guess your co-workers are putting those two things together and making up something from that. There is NO draft in the US. In order to bring it back, lawmakers would have to change the law. I think that would be extremely hard politically for them to do unless we were facing a huge war like WWI & WWII

This has not happened in my family. Never knew a thing about it. None of my male relatives have done this. Hopefully, the draft will STAY a thing of the past.

You are mistaken. All 18 year old males must register with the Selective Service. Usually a young man will register during his senior year at school, through the Post Office, or online. If not he is breaking the law, but is usually not hunted down. He would not be eligible for any school grants, government jobs, or even unemployment pay. Nor would he be a lawyer, fireman, police officer, physician, or any other profession where there would be any reasonable kind of back ground check.

I am sure that all males in your family have registered … and it doesn't mean that they will be drafted, but the possibility is there if a draft were reinstated.

I am sure you are right DJ. I was not aware of it. I have checked with several cousins and they say no. But, then again, maybe they have and don't realize it. I have learned something today.

Your co-workers are either teasing you unmercifully, or they don't know the truth.

Women have always fought alongside their men, but in the United States they have never been drafted, and not until recently have women ever fought in a hostile fire zone.

Scroll down to the section "United States" in the following link.

"as long as you are afemaleperson even if you are astraightfemaleperson you are NOT going to get drafted!"

there's a rule list printed and it says men at work have to be clean shaven and can have only well groomed mustaches,no gotoas watsoever. It doesn't say anything about women's facial hair or being clean shaven, and I've seen women mustaches and beards
