I think this wheat thing is not working out. For a month or so I'd been trying to slowly adjust to eating wheat, by eating a few bites each day. Then I got less methodical and starting just eating some here and there. Yesterday i ate a few bites of bagel, and a few bites of a cookie. Today I have d and cramps that keep sending me to the bathroom. This happened the day after my last wheat bites too. I'm not sure its the cause, but it seems suspicious. I'm not ready to believe it yet I guess. - I can deal with no dairy, no red meat, no pork, no raw food too but I want my bagels! On the other hand, I wouldn't say today has been something I want to repeat again soon....

Hey Hawkeye,

Can't remember - have you been tested for Celiac disease??

I was at least twice by biopsy. And I did the gluten free thing for 6 months or more.

I know it totally sucks we can't tolerate dairy, red meat or pork, but to add bagels and bread to that list is just unfair.

Have you noticed it is certain wheat products that are your triggers? IE - sour dough, Italian bread, etc? Maybe there is a link there too.

Sorry you had a rough day - mine ended that way too. Work late = eat late = unhappy tum...

Hugs!!

Hey,

Yes I was tested with blood test and then biopsy. Blood test had high #'s, but I later learned there are often false positives. The biopsy showed no celiac. So, I chose to eliminate wheat but not gluten and see what would happen. (I tried GF for a few months but gave up). Wheat free worked great for a few months and then I seemed back to normal, but had a reaction sometimes when I tried to go back to wheat. I haven't noticed many specifics as you asked about - but I do notice that I somehow seem fine the next day if I've had some of my daughter's pretzels! I have to keep a food diary and see what I can figure out. I guess when I next have an endoscopy (can't wait!) I will request the test agian too.
