I'm new here and may I say most thankful for all the wonderful information here. I've started eating oatmeal in the mornings since this past sunday and I'm amazed how much relief I've been getting. I can't believe after 20+ years it's finally going to be better.
I do have a ? about sugars.....which is best?...i really only use it on my oatmeal but I think I may have used too much the other morning and had a little bit of an issue.
Thanks Lynn

Heather's books say sugar is not a trigger and you can eat plenty of it. However anyone who's eaten an entire cotton candy or pure sugary treat, can tell you there is definitely a point at which queasiness sets in. So I figure moderation is best. I don't think there's any difference between the two sugars. You could also try maple syrup or agave nectar and see if those are better. I don't know much about it, but supposedly agave nectar is processed differently by the body than refined sugar.

I believe but don't quote me...brown sugar is brown because they add molasses to it.
Again don't quote me....I substitute brown for white whenever I need to so I think you will be ok with either.

Yes, that is correct. Molasses is added to it. I use it sometimes in cookie recipes, but limit my sugar intake in my diet, so it's only once in awhile. It doesn't seem to bother me.
