I don't know how many of you remember me but that really isn't relevant to this posting except to send out a great BIG hello! to everyone.

I have a copy of Eating for IBS and The First Year: IBS that I no longer need. If you live in the Sacramento area, and need these (please leave them for someone who can't afford them if you can), email me at hohoyumyum at hotmail dot com. I don't get back on these boards anymore so if you post here, I probably won't get it.

Turns out, after convincing my doc to run testing, that I have a gluten allergy. What blows my mind is that having a reaction to gluten doesn't necessarily make it so that you can't digest gluten, but definitely makes it so you can't digest other things. I was stable for quite some time and when I had a 3 month flare up I went back to the doc and made them run testing. Since I changed my diet to exclude wheat gluten I have had no symptoms other than the typical female related ones. There are still some foods that make me feel sort of bloated (like dairy) but I find that I actually prefer a lot of alternatives to foods that I can eat again. Dairy milk never made it's way back into my diet.

Anyway, for those who are interested in knowing, since the last time I was on here I:
-became a Holistic Massage Practitioner
-am back in school to go through a Doctorate to teach at a University level
-got divorced (this is a GOOD thing)
-got my own place
-started a new job as a full-time Massage Therapist
-became an Usui and Karuna Reiki Master Teacher
-started seeing someone new
-ate cheese again!
-got a new kitten
-finally got to go to Hawai'i
and it goes on and on.

After 16 years of symptoms, I finally figured my body out. And again, it started with Heather. I wouldn't have thought to test for food allergies if she hadn't listed it in her conditions to rule out.

Thanks Heather! I'm loving life and I don't care where the bathrooms are!

I am back on the boards for the moment too... semester is over.. IBS still MOSTLY stable.. though I am doing some other things with life and don't have a lot of times for the board (I posted my update post last week or the week before!)..

Glad to see things going so well for you!

Hoho,
So good to see you here. I've wondered about you. I'm mainly an outside observer now. I'm excited for you that you're doing so well. I remember the practitioner thing. I went through and did my Reiki 1 & 2. I'm planning on doing my Master eventually. Life got really busy with baby #3....who will be 2 already next month!

Sorry to hear about the divorce even though it's a good thing. Mine was too but hard all the same. Definitely happy that you've found someone else you're interested in.

Gluten eh? I was just thinking about getting that tested too since I have a friend who had a lot of sinus issues (like me) and it turned out to be a gluten allergy. All went away after that. Amazing how much stuff that can cause.

So good to hear from you.
Hugs all around.
Lauren
