This darned weather! The heat has caused all the snow (1/2 ton) of it to melt right into my basement! For the last almost 24 hours solid, we've had two shop vacs going simultaneously as we empty them every 10 minutes! NO EXAGGERATION! We're taking shifts killing our backs lifting the buckets to pour them out. The plumber finally got here a couple of hours ago so there will be some relief...just not financially!
Good thing I'm on vacation, eh? First, we hurt our backs shoveling so we bit the bullet and bought an expensive snow blower. Of course, the puppy has been sick (he swallowed a pen cap) and we had to have x rays. Not cheap. THEN, the engine light on our van goes off and wham...another $500. And NOW...the friggin' flooding!!
Merry Christmas to us!
Sorry...just feeling a little overwhelmed and bummed out. But it felt good to get that all out.

Oh, I am so sorry sweetie. You have every right to whin after everything you have been through. I guess there is something to that old saying When it rains it pours.
I can't believe everything you have been through right after Christmas.

Oh, I am so sorry! The amount of rain that part of the state got and the amount of snow that melted yesterday is just unreal!
So sorry you have to deal with a wet basement on top of everything else!

Yikes! You really got hit! This weather is really crazy! All of our snow and ice is gone but our sump pump is running over time trying to take in all the water. The creek behind our house is full. We have had flooding all over but luckily we have stayed dry. We just keep checking the basement! Not to be corny but when it rains it pours huh? Here's hoping for dry weather and sunshine! *HUGS*

Yep rain and snow suck suck suck!!
About 6 years ago we lost all our power and it rained straight for two days.In the summer mind you but we woke up to a few feet of water in our basement.all the neighbours too and our backyards were so full it was 9 feet deep in the middle(of our yard) so we all got together and had a party.
we didn't have it bad compared to a few people who opened their basement windows to let the water out,Yikes!
Hang in there the sun will shine again!

Thanks, everyone. The plumber put in a sump pump. We have an older house (built in '39) so I suppose things like this will happen. It's just when it all happens at once that it's overwhelming. I'm just thankful this happened while I was on vacation. It takes away from the vacation but at least it's bearable.
