My other news is the progress on my phobia of throwing up. I was posting much more about it when I began therapy. Maybe some of you noticed that I"ve stopped posting panicked emails to this site? I found that those posts were reinforcing the panic for me. Now I'm able to divert myself before I become fully panicked like that - usually anyway. Its certainly not gone, but I"m coping much better on most days. Still doing therapy and still making progress so I'm sticking with it. It has really begun to change my life. I have so much more room in my mind to think about other things that was taken up all day long with endless worries about getting sick. Its a struggle, but the rewards of living life more fully make it worth sticking with it. BTW I didn't end up doing much Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I found that I didn't respond that well to it. The therapist I go to also does Gestalt therapy and I"ve found that much more effective for me.

Hi Emmasmom,
I'm not free of it by any means - but the fearful voice is less often, quieter and I can usually answer it. I also catch most of my panic before it becomes an "attack." I don't think I've taken a xanax for a year. Its been quite a journey - I think I started therapy last February. If you're going through a similar experience to me I definitely recommend trying therapy. I'm also reading yet another book right now - Brain Lock by Schwartz, which is more about OCD but seems very helpful for what I go through too.

Thanks Michele, You've always been so supportive of me which truly helped me so much as I began the therapy and shared on the list. There's a ways to go - but I've def. made some real progress.
