Hi everyone, I just started VSL#3 DS last week and my insurance company doesn't cover it. My question is this: Is there anyone who has had success getting coverage from their insurance company? I have Cigna. If you've had success can you tell me what you did, how long the process took, and what insurance company you use? Thanks so much!

Since VSL3 is not a prescription, I believe you won't find any insurance company that will cover this cost.

I doubt you could get insurance coverage since it's considered a supplement rather than a medication. However, if your workplace participates in the FSA medical savings plan you may be able to set aside pre-tax funds to pay for it. Your doctor would have to fill out a medical necessity form since it's a supplement. I just recently had my doc do one for Align and I sent it in to my FSA plan. I haven't heard back yet from them yet, but I'll post again when I hear. This will at least save a few bucks on taxes.

Hi again,
The double strength is available only by prescription and is covered by some insurance carriers, and their website shows that some people do receive special coverage for it. I was hoping maybe someone has had experience with the appeal process?
