I am a new member and I don't think I have posted here before. Im so glad I found a website that deals with IBS. I have suffered from it for years and although I do know some of the food triggers, Im still at a loss as to what to really eat that will help me. I eat yogurt and take Digestive Advantage pills for IBS and its helps a little. I am sick right now and have been so bloated and have this upper right side pains that sometimes go around my side into my back. I have a Gastro doc I have beem seeing for 5 years, but other than give me a few drugs and some tests, she has not really helped me. I sometimes get scared cause I think all this bloating, constipation and sickness I feel is something serious like a tumor that has not be diagnosed or it will kill me one day. I have a vivid imagination lol. Anyway I have to stay away from fatty foods, spicy foods and even though it will be hard Im going to give up my beloved 2 cups of coffee in the mornings and my raw onions which I love in salads. Im so so sick of being sick all the time. Use to this thing bothered me occasionally when I ate fatty foods and now it bothers me almost every day. Well thanks for letting me post at your forum. Hope to make some friends and get some support for this terrible disorder. Can anyone tell me why I get so much gas and it gets trapped and Im so miserable...barb

Welcome!!
Have you had your gallbladder checked? Could be reason for pain.
Also you aren't supposed to eat dairy products. It's bad for IBS. You could try acidophilus pills if you are looking for that from yogurt. I find it helps alot.
Check out the whole site for the basics of the diet. Start with pasta or rice or baked potato as your base for your meal. eat grilled chicken too. There are a lot of recipes available to help give you an idea. Modify the recipes a bit to your personal likings. I found it really easy and can cook mostly the same way as before.
Good luck with your progress.

Yes I had my gallbladder out in 2001. I also have been diagnosed with a fatty liver and diverculosis. Well I do eat lowfat cheese alot and guess I need to cut that out. I have thought about getting the acidophilus pills, but my Digestive Advantage has that in it. I ate a baked potato yesterday and some grilled chicken and green beans and Im starting to feel so much better since Ive cut the fat in my diet. Thanks for the welcome and good luck to you. Im going to try the soluable fiber supplements too. I will check out everything on the site...thanks a bunch...barb
