Hi Everyone,

To Heather- I want you to know I'm a psychotherapist and have referred a couple of teen girls to your site (I'm an adolescent specialist) and your diet has made a HUGE difference in their lives! All my thanks on their behalf and my own.

I post here once in awhile- more a lurker. Sending out healing and vibes to all in pain, upset today. I think so many of you are SOOOO brave in your persistence and hope around IBS struggles.

I do not really have an IBS diagnosis- pain is not a big part of my struggle and I can go for weeks eating mostly whatever I want, or somewhat carefully with only very little symptoms (though NEVER do well w/ high fat or insoluble fiber- so really avoid those, and only do certain veggies in small amounts). I probably have about one "flare up" a month where for a day I feel yuccky- often at PMS or ovulation. Anyhow, I think I have more of a "sensitive gut" and "functional D" type diagnosis- this all started after food poisoning about 9 years ago, and has waxed and waned over the years. Past 5 years I'm more well than not. RIght now today I have intermittant D, nausea, some reflux, and earlier in the week lots of gas. I can control the d for 24 hours even w/ just 1/2 or one whole immodium, but this week that resulted for one of the first times in LOTS of gas and a bit of constipation. I am confused as I had NON STOP stress the first 3 mos of 08 (major life issues going on) and now most of that has abated, and NOW I'm having a big stomach flare up, when things are calmer. I'm even eating per IBS diet, and taking the Acacia, and I'm feeling so flu-ish yuccky. I'm a single mom and run my own business- I get scared and blue when I'm feeling this sick, and so ON MY OWN and so many responsibilities. The shakiness/anxiety I feel at the symptoms (I do think the symptoms PRECEED the anxiety) only makes things worse. BTW, I did try Lexapro, a small amount, for stress related anxiety a few months back, and it DID seem to slow down the D a lot. But I was sleepy all the time and didn't f eel my normal motivation/passion for life, so after a mo. on it I stopped. Anyhow, I'd say I'm having theh worse stomach symptoms I've had in years and also exhausted, despite sleep. Almost feels like stomach flu. I can't account for it, and feel sad. Feels like if I could account for it I could "fix" it. BTW, for the short term it seems like starting the acacia has made me a little less stable, these past few days.

All the best to all of you and thank you for your incredible help, and all the other brave IBS warriors,

Maggie
