i recently set up my profile etc, and had some messages in my inbox but i am not sure how to respond as my PM option is disabled. I can't seem to find the option how to fix it.
thanks for letting me know,
i'm new to this forum.

They are disabled for all of us. I don't know for certain why, but I suspect it's due to past abuse.

It is permanently disabled. Someone asked the question before and I think the answer was because Heather and the moderators were just getting way too many PMs. Questions should simply be posted here on the boards so that everyone has a chance to share their experience, and also so that everyone has a chance at reading the answers. What is helpful to one person may be helpful for many - but no one would ever know if the questions were asked and answered privately.

There were too many problems with it. It's not just you.

It's my understanding that Fatty's post (user/friend banned for no reason) went for Heather and mods alone.
During registration, you are given the option of allowing others to PM you.
This option is only given once, for it's disabled in "My Home".

I seriously doubt any abuse can come out of Report and Ignore functions.
All the mods need to do is find the right software and members can PM again (there are times when privacy is needed).
PMs can be logged when on a network or business computer anyway.

PM's have been disabled as long as I've been on these boards - and that's over three years now.

*shrug* I certainly don't take it personally.
