My husband has suffered with both UC and IBS for the last 12 years. He has found an evening diet that is working...however, he is consuming all of his food after 5:00pm. He is needing food for energy during the day but is finding all foods upset him untol evening...any suggestions for foods to try for day-time?

HI. I had the same problem so I stopped eating cereal with milk after I woke up and I now wait until I get to work to eat. I eat dry apple cinnamon cherios. About a cup of them or more. I've tried everything from bagels, plain waffles, English Muffins, all have worked. I just grew tired of them and tried something else. I think the key is to eat later in the morning after tummy has settled. Not sure if this is possible for your husband but if he can, it's worth a try.
Good Luck!

I agree with Lisa - I can't eat in the morning first thing either, but I eat a couple of hours after I'm up. During the day I have any of the following: (mind you, I'm pretty stable right now too)
fig newtons (low fat ones)
crackers with peanut butter
dry cereal - rice chex, etc.
100 calorie cookie packs - graham wafers or chips ahoy
english muffins
pb & j or roasted turkey sandwich on french or sour dough
breadsticks (the crunchy kind)
cup of soup (watch the ingredients for milk / fat content)
dried fruit strips, figs, or dates
soy yoghurt with dry cereal

Your hubby should eat what he feels like eating and what agrees with him. If its a tuna sandwich at 9 in the morning, who cares!! As long as he's okay with it. I learned a long time ago now that in order to keep going through the day I have to eat and I refused to fall into the "norm" - cereal for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, etc. I eat what I feel like, when I feel like it!

Best of luck to your hubby!
