eye problems

So for the past several days one of my eyes has been particularly more red than normal. Now I know the first suggestion to come to most people's minds is that its pink eye. However, I have had pink eye/conjunctivitis many times due to the fact that I wear contacts. This is different because there is no excess mucus associated with it and it doesn't itch (two of the major symptoms). It's not really bothersome except that my eye feels somewhat uncomfortable and this morning when I woke up my eyelid felt a bit puffy and still is feeling that way. It's mostly the inner part of my eye that is the reddest. Ideas?? I checked with the school nurse, but she didn't know either. BTW, it's so great to be able to come to this forum and post questions and feel confident and comfortable that hopefully at least one other person has experienced the same thing you have or at least has advice. Last year my eyes became more red and just felt dry. I attributed it to working on the computer more and reading more. When I went to see the ophthalmologist, he said I had dry-eye. I got some drops and had to use a lot of them for several months. Since then, things are better...except when I spent too much time on the computer. Doc said that when you're on the computer, you don't blink as much as you normally would and that will dry your eyes out.
I don't know if that's what you're experiencing but I thought I'd chime in.

Hey Julie,
What kind of contacts are you wearing? If you're wearing soft lenses, there's a product called Blink that I hear is great for rewetting your lenses while they're still in your eyes.
I wear hard lenses (not by choice--I have keratokonus) and I'm an IT Specialist so I'm always at the computer. I work on the 40th floor and we can't open the windows to get real fresh air so the air in here can by dry at times which then make my eyes dry. I've been told to use Refresh eyedrops but I'm not good with eyedrops so I wind up taking my lenses out, giving them a quick wash and then popping them back in.
The following is based on my experiences with my hard lenses and maybe it may guide you to some point:
- maybe the material of your lenses need to be redone so that they can hold moisture better?
- maybe they're a bit tight and it's time for a refit?
- **what solution are you using?**
- do you change the solution you soak them in each night?
- are you sleeping while wearing them?
**I asked about the solution that you're using because there's been a recall of the Complete Moisture Plus solution because of contamination from China or something. You can read about that here and here. I'm sure you don't have the disease but knowledge is power!

Hi Julie....
Before I reply to your eye question...I have to say thank you for your quote at the bottom of your post. I'm having a rough time right now where I feel pulled in two different directions by what others want me to do all the time and what I want to do. I'm a "people pleaser". It's a long story, but your quote has helped me see things differently. Thank you! {{hugs}}
Now, about your eye....could it be a sty(sp?)? Maybe google it and see if the symptoms are the same as yours. Or a bug bite you received when sleeping? If it bothers you much longer you should see a doctor. Don't want to mess around with eyesight.

Is it since the winds have kicked in? Thinking maybe allergies. Mine can get puffy and red, especially when the weather changes like this.
