I'll be having my right hip replaced on Monday, April 16. I could use all the well wishes and good thoughts any of y'all can offer.
I'll be released from the hospital on Thursday. If I'm doing well, I'll come home; if I'm a total klutz who hasn't learned how to use crutches yet, I'll go to rehab for a while.
After Sunday, I probably won't be back on-line until the end of May. I'll be on crutches for 6 weeks and since the bathroom is on one level of the house and the computer is on the other, I have to pick which one to hang out near. (Hint: It's not going to be the computer.)
Joe will be checking my email from time to time so feel free to drop me a note there and I'll get the message.

Oh Sand,
I'm sorry you have to go through this. I will be thinking of you. I will certainly miss your posts. Maybe you can convince your husband that you need a laptop now! A neighbor of ours had this done about 5 years ago. She put it off for years, not wanting to go through surgery, but she has been amazed at the results. I have even seen her out mowing her lawn. I don't know what your situation is, but I hope your results are as good.

Good luck to you Sand! My MIL has had both replaced in the past 5 years and she has done really well after both. Recovery time total was about 6 weeks for her. She is a woman in her early 50's and she was upset that she had to have it done but it really has been a blessing since she had such a hard time walking before they were replaced. I know things will go just fine and we will miss you while you are gone!

I'll be thinking of you. Hope it all goes well. Your presence here will be missed...but we'll be here when you get back.

Thanks, lj. I'm actually looking forward to computer-free time. I'll miss the Boards, of course, and email but I won't miss all that time somehow disappearing into the Internet. And please don't tell my husband I'll be able to mow the lawn after surgery.

Thanks, Angela. I'm actually going to have to have the other one done, too - I'm sort of trying not to think about that right now. I'm in my early 50's, also. Maybe this is a new trend.

Thank you. Joe has already offered to wait on me hand and foot. When I told my orthopedist that he said, "Sounds like a good deal. Tell your husband I expect you to be back on your feet around 2010."
