Hello,
Hopefully this isn't an inappropriate question, but are Enemas bad for IBS-D people. I'm 33. I'm not wanting to use one as a "fix" or anything, just to clean myself out before some play with my partner.

thanks.

You know, I'm really not sure... but speaking from my own experience, I tried an enema *once* and I was miserable and crampy afterwards. I had done it as a "fix", but I can tell you that the last thing I'd have wanted to do at that point is play.

I'd skip it, personally. The enema, that is. Not the fun stuff.

Thanks...I guess there may be some other material out there on the web that will tell me if it is "bad" for IBS-D or not. I heard somewhere that colder ones may be worse, which could make it crampy.

My understanding is that you don't just go once and clean out. You end up going several times over a period of time and being cramped up and awfully uncomfortable.

i guess my adjective of "bad" had some ambiguity in it. i guess "bad" means will it make the IBS worse, like will it make the IBS more prominent after...like forever worse...like causing an injury. i'll look around more.

Yeah, it's not like a "douche" or anything. It actually will cause spasms and will make the bowels contract. Your best bet is a bath and shower combo instead, IMHO.

I don't know that it will make your IBS worse in the long run. But I don't think it will help much for your immediate purposes. But hey, everyone is different, and maybe you'll find that it works out for you.
