I'm so very sorry. Hopefully, your mother's joking is evidence of a positive outlook, which will be a great help in getting her (and you) through this.

I'm so sorry, Nelly. I know this is difficult for you---and your mother. I'm sure she's just joking around to keep from breaking down in front of you. It's just her way of dealing with it. Maybe it hasn't hit her yet.
I will keep you both in my prayers. My neighbor (and good friend) has breast cancer, and it is so hard watching what she is going through. I worry about her so much.
And my son's girlfriend's mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing chemo for it. It seems like everyone I know has the disease! It is scary!

I'm sorry to hear that your mom is having to go through this, again. And I know from experience that it's not easy for you to watch your mom go through it either! But take heart. My mom had breast cancer when I was 13. I'm 31 now & she's still w/me, 74 yrs old & doing well, except that she has Alzheimers, but as far as her general health, she's doing great! She's never had anymore problems w/any type of cancer. So there's always hope for you & your mom as well! And medical treatments for cancer are advancing all the time. Now if only they could find a cure for IBS!
