Well, I had an AMAZING 3.5hrs at the Aveda Urban Therapy salon, and all I can say is WOW!! You get a scalp, neck and shoulder massage before they even look at your hair!! (To cut a long story short, I got an amazing deal - £300 of appointments for just £60, which is less than just what I had done today - cut, blowdry & colour - and the other appointments are facials, pedicures, manicures, makeovers, etc etc. Deal of a lifetime!)

So...

I knew I wanted to go dark/er, but wasn't sure how dark I could pull off, being naturally pale blonde all my life. However, my roots have been going darker for the past year or so, so I at the very least wanted to go as dark as my roots - but that looks like a dull colour, and sort of 'nothingy', so wanted to go darker, and warmer.
Had a consultation with the colour expert, and decided on a warm light brown with a hint of copper & gold, which I love. I like to think it makes me look pale rather than the red that my old blonde used to make me look, as i have pinky-red skin (though you can't tell that in my profile pic as I had 2 layers of St Tropez on for a charity ball at the time, to cover up the sunburn I got the day before!! )

(Going darker is difficult for me, as my eyebrows and lashes have remained white-blonde like my hair used to be, and I'm allergic to the dye - so I could never go black or anything, as I'd have to use that much brow powder I'd look like a clown!)

Cut-wise I went about 5" shorter! I haven't stepped in a salon for nearly 2 years because of a horrible IBS experience I had in one, and have been trimming my own hair whilst dying it, so was of course in a bit of a state, so we cut off all the damaged hair, and a bit more besides. Also had LOADS of short layers put in, to give it movement and interest - and means I can wear it sleek, mussed up or flicked out.

My fringe is pants, basically because we left it alone - he has an idea that would suit me, but needs it a bit longer to do it properly, so we've taken the hit this time, hence why my fringe looks a bit lifeless.

Now - pictures! Unfortunately I was tired & bit poorly when I got in, so had an hours sleep on the sofa - so I've wiped most of my makeup off and spoilt my hair, but thought I'd take the pics anyway, using my webcam (hence the poor quality). Think you can tell pretty well anyway:

As you can see I can wear it smooth, or mussed up a bit like in the last pic - also in that pic please ignore the scary eyes, I was half asleep and trying to open my eyes super-wide to compensate!

Hope everyone likes!

And you're right - you definately deserve a treat like this - especially with the new job starting soon!

I went darker too for fall, but I used a semi-permanent colour that lasts 28 washes. By the time I get back to work it will be almost gone and no-one will notice it anyways!

Thanks Cassandra! Mine's a semi too, but with it being such a dark colour on such a pale base it should last a bit longer than normal, plus my hair is really absorbant too.

And if I continue to like it I'll have it re-done anyway! I love semi-permanents - you can chop & change and have fun, and they actually improve the condition of your hair rather than make it worse. Oh yeah, and no more horrible roots...

You are gorgous, Blondie!

You know, you have such a striking resemblance to Mary-Louise Parker!! Though you're much younger and prettier of course! Has anyone ever told you this before? (maybe it's just the pictures?)

Check out more pics of her, I really see the resemblance! http://www.imdb.com/name/MaryLouiseParker

You're going to have to change your name to FoxyBrunette14, I think. They did a really wonderful job, I must say. It doesn't hurt that you're a really pretty girl to start, tho! That's an amazing deal you got too! I must have spent $260 on my last proper haircut a few months ago. It's too bad they make it so expensive, or else I'd keep up with my color a lot better than I do!

So are you catching yourself by surprise when you see your new color in the mirror?

That is so funny! Can't see even a slight resemblance myself, but what do I know eh?! She is SO pretty, if I even looked 1/2 a percent like her I'd be well chuffed...

Yeah Beth brought up the name thing too - can't be Blonde anymore, but not sure what to change to. Hmmmmm.... Answers on a postcard people!

It's funny you say that - it's not only that I keep catching sight of myself in the mirror and having a surprise, but even when I'm actually looking in teh mirror on purpose, doing makeup and stuff, I keep stopping and staring at myself! I can't get over how different it is, yet how at home I feel like this. Really odd...

Everyone loves it, and I think I'll do it the same next time. Maybe even darker??!! I can't wait to go back for my next appointment - and I've just foundout that even when I go back to full-time the office shuts at 2pm on Fridays, so I think that will become my regular slot!

Gonna look even more different soon - really need glasses, but kept putting it off. Going to try getting some tomororw, if not next week. I don't think I have a good-shaped head for glasses, no idea what would suit me?!! (I have a ridiculously large, long head - got it from my dad, lucky me... )

You know what, your posts always make me think you must be one of the funkiest, funniest, most fun people around. Just thought you oughtta know that!
