We're leaving around 2pm to go a hotel in Nottingham, which is probably a 10/15 minute drive from where we live, with intentions of going out in Nottingham in the evening/night, and staying overnight in the very funky hotel (www.lacemarkethotel.co.uk) cause it's my b.day on Monday.

I'm REALLY excited - I think it really has in all probability been over a year since I was anywhere other than in the house in the evening/night (we've stayed in a hotel twice, but never eaten or drunk out while we were there). I used to go out 3 - 4 times a week, so being this way is horrible - I feel like a little old woman, stuck in her house, watching the cool young people walk past the front window on the way to and from the pub... It's obviously also horrible for J, that we can never go anywhere or do anything together.

Anyway

Made plenty of IBS concessions - ditched the dress for favour of jeans (feel 'comfier', less exposed somehow, plus had wardrobe issues... ),we're taking a completely IBS-safe picnic to eat in the hotel room instead of eating in a restaurant (however safe, restaurant food seems to set me off - and this way we can eat safely, let it settle while still in the 'safety' in the room, then hopefully have a nice night in the bars without panicking my tum's about to flip ) and I've eaten perfectly since last Tuesday.

But I've spent 3 hours so far tonight on the toilet, horrible D, excruciating cramps, gas and generally feeling crap. No fair! Also had a dodgy delayed reaction to some hair dye (gone very dark blonde - feels black compared to my natural hair colour, love it! ), and half my face and head is swollen up and painful - joy...

I think I'm sharing every detail for 2 reasons - first cause I'm SO excited, to even lots of people on here this is a non-event to them, but it's massive to me at the moment, and also because I'm equally TERRIFIED. Scared my tum's not gonna recover from tonight, or that it's going to flare up before we leave, or while we're out, etc. Basically scared it's going to ruin the night for us both. We are only going to bars in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but still really nervous - never been out in Nottingham, don't know the area, the bar's toilets or anything, and that freaks me out.

So I guess I'm just asking for everyone's positive thoughts cause I really want to not just get through this, but enjoy it! And for J to enjoy it too, cause he deserves it...

Hi Blondie,

It sounds like you two have a wonderful evening planned for your birthday Good idea with the IBS safe picnic. I have ulcerative colitis and when I wasn't stable and in flare mode I too had difficulty eating at restaurants.

Have a great birthday and a fantastic time tomorrow.
Positive tummy thoughts coming your way!

Hi, well whenever I have D the day before I always think of it as a good sign.. because you are getting your system cleared out now and not tomorrow! Yay! You are going to be fine. Just know whatever happens you can still have a good time and just deal with things as they come. You can change or stop them so worrying doesnt help!! Just relax and enjoy yourself. If something happens deal with it then.

Take care, and I hope you have fun!
Cindy

I know I replied to your other post but thought i`d give you some more hugs, some more thoughts and I`d cross some more things but my body is completely crossed for you already have a fantastic night. What Cindy said sounds good - you will have got it all out before you go. I hope tonight is perfect for you. Stay with stable foods and water - boring but I`m sure it will be more fun that way (how i`m going to do that at my own 21st I don`t know but thats not till december so i`ll worry about it nearer to the time)

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<MASSIVE HUGS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I really hope it goes well you deserve it to. Don`t worry, stay calm

good luck

I hope you have a wonderful Birthday day and that you had a fanstastic time last night. The great thing about staying in a hotel and staying in that area to go out, if you had tummy troubles you can always go back to the hotel.

I can't wait to hear all the details and how much fun you had.
