I just finished a aplication to Volunteer at the local Humane Society I hope they don't shun me just because I'm not an adult I can work just as well as with animals as adults can. I love animals and hope they'll let me come on saturdays I bet they'll just let me groom or pick up poo I want to socialize with them too to get use to having a dog when I get one I'll update later See ya

I have a good friend that runs an animal shelter here in Wyoming. She loves it. It is her whole life. I hope that they let you in to help the animals. We need more people like you.

That's great that you will be volunteering. Just be careful, though -- we do have a few no-kill shelters around here, but most of them still put unwanted animals to sleep, and it is very easy to get attached to animals and then get traumatized when they're put down.

Our shelters do accept under-age volunteers, and no matter how old or young the volunteers are, they usually do what's immediately needed -- and that's the everyday mundane icky tasks like cleaning cages or litterboxes. So don't feel bad if that's what you end up doing. You're still helping.
