My eyes are slightly less swollen, but now even brighter red, and feel all horrible and scaly. Yuck!

My top lip is slightly less swollen and stinging, bottom one is just about the same.

I did, however, have a good nights sleep: an early night (for me - 1.20am) + a lay in this morning. I also got some Sudocrem cream, which I could pile on a thick layer onto my eyelids and lips and it just about completely took the pain away! As soon as I've had my breakfast I shall be coating myself in it once more....

..is the business! I swear by it for spots etc and sunburn. Be careful if you have dark coloured sheets and pillowcases as it stains them.

Glad you are a little better. Baby steps....

Ok, keep taking the antihistamine for another few days. Did they tell you to take Benadryl? Do you even have that brand there? It's stronger and better for allergic reactions like yours.

We do have Benadryl, but as I'm already taking Zirtek for my hayfever they said the best one to add was Piriton - as that means I can take both, whereas you can't take Benadryl and Zirtek together.

Getting better as the day goes on too - top lip (other than being dry and hard) is pretty much back to normal size now. Yay!!

Today I'm moving some stuff from the side of our sofa and there's about 20 ants walking round on the carpet beside/behind the sofa. This part of the room touches a brick-built fireplace, which I think is hollow - perfect for ants. There's quite a biggish hole where some cable has been run through.

So, maybe the big lumps on my arms/hands were ant bites, and the rest an allergic reaction to that? They just look like normal ants, not red ones. I've had everything up off the floor and vacuumed behind and under everything, and I'll (try to) go get some ant stuff tomorrow. I'll also get some brown sealant stuff to stuff the visible hole up.

Other than that anyone have any ideas if allergic reactions to ants is common, and any tips to get rid of them? Tomorrow is now going to be a SUPER cleaning day - everything surface in my house is going to be spotless, every fabric washed, every piece of furniture moved and hoovered under!!

...2 full rooms away from where I spotted them in the living room by the sofa. Wonderful. I guess it makes sense they were what I reacted to.

Anyone got any great ant repellant/deterrant/trap ideas?

how big are the ants. If they are little, they are common black ants, most likely came from out side. If they are huge black ants (like a half inch long), they are carpenter ants, to get ride of these you need to get ride of the wood they are living in.
