..........exactly who i dreaded it to be!!! Taylor Hicks, wow, no surprise there, since they have only been pushing into the spotlight more and more each week on A.I.It was pretty obvious since Chris left who the winner was going to be! Oh well, maybe they will invest in dance lessons for him?! I guess it's no longer a talent competition but more of a "lets pick someone who is different" contest, sorry, but i just don't see Taylor as all that talented.

having only watched about thirty seconds of it, i'm no judge, but i totally wanted him to win bc his hair is just so awesome. i'm a total sucker for silver hair like that. but from what i've heard, he does have a lovely voice, and he's *interesting*, and a good performer - i'm sick of the boring american idol blah blah pretty pop thing, which is what the other finalist seemed to be.

well its all over which is kinda sad..

Taylor won, which I assumed would totally happen. Do I love him.. nope, not at all.. but I wasn't head over heels over katherine either so what can I say.

The show tonight was pretty cool though! I loved all the guests, and that they all sang together which was fun! I looooved seeing elliot and chris.. they totally stole the show. They both did really well and have fabulous voices. I thought that Carrie also sang amazingly as usual. Katherine was even on her game tonight.

I do wish that Taylor looked more excited and emotional about being the winner, but then again, I bet he knew it was coming! I remember watching last year when Carrie could barely sing her song because she felt so blessed. Oh well to each their own.

In other news.. kids are pretty cute! I was talking about AI with one of my students today and apparently the kids all think Taylor is older than grandpa.. this is what one said.. oh kids.. they have no clue!
"Taylor is so old. He's gonna sing three songs and then probably he'll die."

Eh, he seemed to me to be a rip-off of Ray Charles. We were rooting (a wee bit) for Katherine, but honestly not very excited by either choice. Ah well. Maybe next year will be more interesting.

Ok, I haven't followed AI that much since Chris got voted out and I didn't watch last night's show (but I did tape the finale since they were all coming back and I'll likely watch it later) but I have a question. I saw one little part of the finale where they were presenting Elliot's Mom with an award for Proudest Parent...does anyone know if she is sick? I don't know...to me she looked like she was sick, very frail and stuff. I guess it could just be her but it made me concerned. And Elliot and Chris...can't wait to see 'em again.

...my Mom died of cancer and her deterioration over the season just reminded me of how my Mom looked on the chemo and everything. I hope that's not the case for her though.

yeah she is sick.. elliot has mentioned before about how his mom is his hero because of all of the hardtimes and adversity that she has endured.

I'm not sure exactly what disease or illness she has (I thought it could have been MS), but I know that she is sick because Elliot mentioned it once on the show.

I know.. I went back and searched the old posts we all made about american idol (haha I wanted to check if I was an elliot fan from the start, and I totally was ) Anyways.. my point is that everyone was like "no way.. that gray haired man won't even make the top 12!!"

well I guess he had us all fooled!

I will say that I find Taylor Hicks entertaining and he probably had more fun performing than most but I just don't see him as an American Idol. I don't see him drawing a huge crowd at a concert or anything like that.

I think that Katherine's perceived (or not) snobbiness cost her in the long run.

Just my two cents....

They mentioned a little last week about his mom's struggles when he went back home but I deleted it from our dvr so I don't remember for sure. I do know she had gastro-bypass (sp?) surgery a few years ago and I do think she had some other healthy issues.

Madeline came home yesterday and said that they all guessed at school who was going to win and she picked Taylor. She asked me to let her know this morning how won AI and if the Sabres won -which they did- YEAH!!!!!! She was so funny though because she kept calling him these different names. She couldn't remember his name. I am glad he won instead of Katherine. I just don't like her. She has always been one of my least favorite.

Elliot was my favorite. I remember during the auditions, when they were doing the group competition and he went to bed instead of staying up to practice (probably because of his own health issues) and then the next morning he was eating breakfast with Brenna. The one twin was so mad and I remember thinkin this guy can't possible sing that well and make it much further. That was the first time I heard him and I just loved him from then on.

Anyone else find the Clay Aiken part funny? I was laughing so hard. That poor guy seemed so clueless.

I enjoyed some of the singing (Carrie, Clay) and I thought some was dumb (Prince - gag me, blech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I think Katherine is beautiful and talented but I'm glad Taylor won, he's a load of fun. And I have to say I got so sick of having to look at Kat's boobs, that one dress I was saying to Mom, "Now what must her parents think of her in that dress with all she's got hanging out the top of it?" and then IMMEDIATELY the camera cut to her MOTHER in the audience with the front cut in a V way down to her belly button... we had to laugh, guess that's the way it's done out in L.A. but it sure doesn't leave anything to the imagination, sheeeeeeesh.

Loved seeing Chris and Elliott and Madisa sing again, I think Carrie stole the show though.

HmmmmI'm from PA too but have never heard of an Eat and Park Restraunt. I'm from the Eastern part of the state maybe that's why! I would assume that it's a drive in type place Ashley? Anyway, not that this is a legit source but hubby says Howard Stern (I know, I know)(Darn serius radio I got him for Christmas!!!) said he was saying that Katharine was a real "B" back stage. I think I could picture that. She is beautiful and all but no right to be a B!

oh my gosh I know!!

Katherine's mom was stuffed into a dress that I don't even think 20 year olds should be wearing.

It was awful! Like mother like daughter I guess.. however, I'd be pretty upset if my mom showed up to my show on national TV with that on.
