Tommy and I just realized today that our big wedding party is a month away! WOW!

I bought my younger niece, the flower girl, a cute kid's jewellery set, super sweet. http://www.myweddingfavors.com/birthstone.html

And for my older niece a very pretty pink crystal silver bracelet. http://www.myweddingfavors.com/crystalbracelet.html

Those two were EASY! Plus they don't expect anything so they'll be thrilled!

But Tommy's sister is so hard to shop for! She wouldn't go for the tacky monogramed hand bag that she's never even use. She has a Coach purse for goodness sake! Any ideas on gift suggestions???? I thought about a spa gift certificate but read on a wedding site that the gift should be something she'll have for years and years. Hmmmm????

Maybe this in lilac or black? She loves purple. http://www.coach.com/aspx/content/product.aspx?product_no=7457&category_id=242&easyask_id=

If any of you were bridesmaids and got awesome gifts, tell me what they were. Or if you got married and gave creative gifts, let me know! She likes gold jeweller but wears a cross necklace everyday. She's kinda hard to buy for!!!

Not real exciting but I bought my bridesmaids 1928 brand jewlery. I got them all matching earings and necklaces that they wore on the wedding day. They matched the dresses. It's terrible but I can't think of one thing that I got as a bridesmaid! See, must not have meant anything. Like you said, it should be something that someone's gonna say, "hey I got this from Tina and Tommy!" Good luck finding the right thing. I'm sure you will get great responses from the boards!

It's a brand like Monet or Liz Claiborne. It's kinda Victorian style. Oh another brand of cool jewlery is Brighton. There's a lot on Ebay. It can get pricey but it's very pretty. 1928 is more reasonable. Macy's carries it. Do a google search on 1928 and Brighton jewlery.

I was picking out graduation gifts at a Things Remembered store in our town over the weekend and they have an area with gifts for weddings and the wedding party, etc. and this caught my eye. It's a compact, and simple, but it just seems like such a classy gift, especially with a nice monogram on it.

I'll keep thinking, but I have just kept going back to thinking what a nice little gift that would make and something everyone could use and enjoy.

Good luck!!

I've been a bridesmaid 4 times (ugh and I'm only 24!). I've received a monogrammed silver compact mirror, a picture frame in the wedding colors originally holding a picture of me and the bride from when we went to a baseball game but intended to hold a picture of us taken at the wedding, a wristlet from coach, and earrings from ross-simons. I use the coach wristlet every day, either as a wallet inside my purse or as a purse on its own, and it's held up amazingly well. That being said, my aunt works for coach and I know my SIL got them all at discount prices. However, if you are only buying one, it might be worth it. You can buy one that coordinates with the purse she already has. I also love the picture frame I got, and I ended up leaving the original photo in (mostly because I haven't gotten around to putting in one from the wedding, which was in july 2002 ... ooops ...). The earrings were sweet and I wore them in the wedding but haven't worn them much since, mostly because I wear the same jewelry every day of my life. The silver compact is currently tarnishing in my bedroom dresser drawer at my parents' house. It was a nice gift but not very practical, a little too dressy an item to just throw in my bag. Might be nice to take along in my evening bag to formal events, though. Anyway, that's all I got. I'm sure you'll choose something lovely.

What about an engraved picture frame with a personal message and photo? You can find some nice ideas at Things Remembered if you have one near you.

The handbag is a nice idea though!

Good luck with your plans!

How about diamond stud earrings or another kind of prescious jewel earrings?

I agree.. if she likes coach you can always get a wristlet for about 50 bucks (I'm not sure of your budget though. it would be pricey if you have loads of bridesmaids).

however, I have two wristlets and love them.. plus coach lasts forver so she can use it for years.

Whenever i've been a bridesmaid I've always gotten jewlery to wear on the wedding how, however, I must also admit that its gotten very little wear after the actual event.. so if you get jewlery, get something you're sure that she'll use.

I'd never even heard of one before now.
For my wedding party gifts we gave my sisters a teddy that is a bridesmaid (cheesy for grown ups but they loved them as they both adore teddies) and a silver chain (one got a floating heart, the other got a funky modern bit)

I haven't been a bridesmaid since I grew up so no presents to share.

But I really really want that wristlet!

One month to go, very exciting!

jewlery is the best- my sister the jeweler made us each bracelets and the maid and matron of honor got necklaces to match...

Another good one- I had a terrific photo of a poppy blown up for my best friend and framed and its still hanging at her home.. (her name is Poppy, but it was by a local floral artist- up close and gorgeous!)

Cassi is giving the girls their bouquets- using fake flowers, and individualized gifts- her friends are getting jewelry and her sister- younger one, the same, but her older sister is gettign a locket with pictures of her daughters in it...

Your experience is very helpful for me!

I think the wristlet seems to be the best bet so far. True about the mirror not being practical or used at all.

Thanks!

For my girls gifts I bought them all necklaces and earrings that matched and they wore them on my wedding day. They were stylish enough that they can wear them on other occasions as well. Good Luck

I love 1928 jewelry. Great stuff if you like the vintage look.

Two years ago, my bridesmaids got gift certificates to Victoria's Secret, some make up, and some really cool soap I found. Oops. I didn't know about the permanent/long-lasting gift etiquette. But I didn't get any complaints, either.

I love the Coah wristlet! I have a purple coach bag but it has hand handles and not a shoulder strap and since my RA has gotten so bad, I can't really carry it much. One of my girlfriends gave me an off white coach wristlet and I use that ALL the time.

Good to know Michele. I am new to Coach. I don't own anything by them. I've always been a happy camper buying no name purses. ha ha But NYC seems to be way different than Ottawa. Not in Kansas anymore. LOL!

I'd want the spa certificate most of all I think. (hmm I wonder does my husband ever check up on me on the boards, since my birthday is only three weeks away!

For my sisters I wrote on a card my thanks for all their help and support with the wedding and that I loved them etc and P wrote a message too, If you give her the spa certificate then you & Tommy could write a personal message in a card that she would be able to keep.

Very true, a spa visit is a girl's best friend. This spa is expensive too and I know she hasn't gone there for a long time. A hand written card to keep would be very nice.

I hope you get a great b-day gift. Isn't it the big 3-0?

Sinead!!!! It's NOT that bad!!! I'm going to be 32 in July and I've enjoyed myself more every year. It just keeps getting better - not worse.

Trust me!

I bought Jenn a necklace and earrings to coordinate with her dress and the fabric to make her a wrap for with her dress. My mom will sew it for me as I suck at machine sewing!! I'm paying for her hair updo too. I think I will also get her a gc for the book store too or movie theatre (she is only just turned 20, still a "teen" to me!)
When I was a maid of honor I got my hair updo as a gift. It was a pretty unmemorable occasion. I don't even talk to the bride any longer.
Good luck Sara!!
