like I said it wasn't a sad funeral, it was a celebration of his life. Hope your family are doing OK.

S.

PS It is so sweet the way you always spell Padhraig's name right, even though I have given up typing it at this stage as it looks so odd on screen! It always makes me smile, it's not an easy one to remember.

Well, I hope when the time comes for my uncle that we will celebrate his life as well.

I guess you can say the reason I always spell Padhraig's name correctly is because I have several Irish-American friends and some of their family have Irish-spelled first names. Plus, I am a stickler for spelling and pronouncing people's names correctly. Like, I hate when people say Christine when someone's name is Christina or Diane when that person is Diana. Just one of my pet peeves but I am happy it brings a smile to your face when I write his name correctly.

Oh sweetie, I am so sorry. But at least he is at home and will die there, not in the hospital.

This will be devastating for your aunt and I'm so sorry.

OMG, Shelby that is just awful! Just 40 years old? I can't even imagine. Your sister and her family are in my prayers as well.

I'm sorry to hear this. I hope the time he does have left is peaceful and pain-free as possible.

I agree Tommy, I hate that too.

My mother does not ever call anyone Maria, always Marie, even though their name is Maria, it drives me crazy!

Most of my close friends (and his!) can't spell his name because there are so many variations (Padraic, Padhraic, Padraig, Pauric, Pauraic etc etc) so it's unusual for someone other than family to get it right, therefore it always makes me smile.

what's great too is that you can even say it properly- and I've heard you in person!

This is a difficult time for all of you. I will remember you and your family in prayer during this time. I'm very sorry for this. I trust you will be able to speak to him/see him while there is time.

you may be surprised though- sometimes the elderly can suddenly rally- they did this with my grandfather and then 3 months later did the bypass surgery he wasn't strong enough for originally.. he did miss our wedding during the whole thing, and my cousins a year later because he was still not up for the travel, but he's still with us 6 years later.. there is still hope.
