We painted the living room a deep yellow and the dining room a pale sage green. We're thrilled since we were both so new at painting. Check it out:

Next step is getting a neutral carpet colour!

Very nice you guys!! I love to paint like that - something very therapeutic about it. The colors you picked are great !! You'll have to post more pics once you put that carpet in!

I have that yellow in my hallway (it's called Egyptian sand over here) and I love it, it's really sunny.

I want to paint a room that shade of green too but can't decide exactly. So great choices!

For the carpet I would go for a caramel colour, if you like I can post a pic of what mine looks like with the yellow, but it would match the green really well too.

Oh yes we did have some accidents! When I first started I was just using primer so I didn't put down any drop cloths.......of course I spilled the paint on the carpet within the first 5 minutes. But it's water based so it came out with a lot of scrubbing.

Thanks Brittany. Carpet probably won't be installed for a while though. It's so expensive to carpet an entire apartment!!!

That's Besty, Tommy's cat. She adores him and barely comes near me. ha ha I am "the other woman" to her. She's ealous of me!

I try to keep the place neat, I don't like clutter. Thanks for noticing!

I love the yellow! The sage-green is sublime. Isn't yellow challenging? When you said yellow, I initially thought, "oh no, not 'flight of the bumblebee!'" When you said sage green, I prayed, "not hospital pants!" You avoided both icky tones.
Actually, I really like the yellow--it's nice, like melted butter on popcorn or even ghee. Not annoying at all, and not too chipper or pastey.

Kate.

Thanks Kate!

Yes yellow is super challenging. Two of the living rooms of previous friends were both a lemon yellow and I wasn't found of how bright it was. This one is a turmeric colour so I love it.

The green isa super pale colour and is kinda gteyish -- not at all a tacky green.

haha of course I love it..
my house is the exact same colors.

I have the same yellow in my living room, and sage green in my bathroom, although mine is a little more palm color and yours looks a little more gray.

regardless I think you have good taste in colors, because I have picked them myself
