I've had 2 asthma attacks in 2 days and I feel another one coming on. This isn't my regular cold weather/sports induced asthma that usually starts with coughing. It's a new kind for me that starts with stomach discomfort (not IBS, but more of an "I ate too much" discomfort, even if I haven't eaten). It ends up with me puking in the sink or sidewalk or wherever I am.

It goes away with 2 puffs of my inhaler. It's happened to me a couple times in the winter, and now for the last 2 days, plus today. So three days total. And it's been warm this week, so it's not the cold that's inducing this one. I haven't been overly active either, which is my other normal trigger.

I can't imagine what the trigger is. Any ideas? Another allergen that's triggering an attack?

I'm off to find my inhaler.

That sounds terrible, Nelly. Could it be an ingredient in those frozen Thai foods that may be triggering these attacks? What about your fibro meds? Could it be a delayed reaction?

I hope you figure out what's making you sick.

I don't know if it's food. Sometimes it happens when I haven't eaten, like today. I am stumped.

Ugh, that's not good. I get feelings like that when I have panic attacks sometimes....maybe one of the new meds interacting with something?

Hope you don't get any more of them!

Nelly,

I don't have any good advice to offer, Sorry! I do hope that you are feeling better and that you figure out what the trigger is.

and they were the ones that gave me double pneumonia and put me in ICU. Please be careful. It must be something allergic.

Any new food? Anything new you're breathing in?

Sending my love!!

because I have had migraines that were similar, and then also IBS attacks that were similar to migraines but in the "second brain" if you KWIM with sense of smell hallucinations like I smelled a poopy diaper everywhere I sniffed. It was weird.

That was from coffee. Another thing is Dh has what we think are anxiety attacks in the middle of the night that awaken him huffing and puffing like an asthma attack or when you hyperventilate. out of nowhere, and they have a thought that it's caused by his GERD and scarred esopagus.

Knowing how sensitive asthma is to change and I KNOW it's connected to our minds and second brain too....there'a few leads to follow, from your friendly neighbourhood wheezer.

ps- on a good day, I only need to take my ventolin twice. LOL! So I'm def. an expert. Also why I believe in God.

It does start out with a smell! You're a GENIUS! I thought it was from the dog, whose friend Harley was over the night before, and I was smelling him EVERYWHERE, like on the pillows. I'd jump up, choking! BAM, attack!

The second one was peanut butter. I smelled it from the peanutbutter cookies I'd baked hours before, though I'd cleaned everything. Once more I started choking on the smell and had to run for my inhaler.

What does this mean????? Must I burn down the house and start over??

OK, 4th day in a row. I smelled some old milk in the sink and had another asthma attack! My inhaler stopped it in its tracks before I puked, so yeaa. I'm going to take some Claratin the first thing when I wake up tomorrow and see if that stops it.

I think somebody cutting the grass early last week started it off, except I've had no watery eyes or nose yet this season.

Still looking for other possible causes/solutions! Thanks for your help~!

as I have just proven by deleting my own post.

ok-gist of it, I wonder if it's not migraine related. My olfactory schiz-outs were always related to either a migraine or what I'd call a "tummy migraine" where I wouldn't headache but felt full/gross in the tummy and wanted to barf. And absolutely HAD to sleep. And not at all IBS attacks.

Also, PB makes me wheeze now too,and feel that weird fullness. Almost every time. that and red wine. Never was a problem till my lil princess was born. now I ahve lots of new allergies: avocadoes, MOST ALCOHOL(dammit)escargot, walnuts, peanut butter to a degree, etc etc.

So it may be a sort of "tummy migraine." I had said this summer I think IBS and migraine is connected, and knowing how hypersensitive we wheezers are, it could ALL be connected. I did have asthma attacks with those migraines and tummy migraines.ps- I don't throw up unless I'm LOADED drunk, not even pregnant,so don't judge my lack of throwing up, but I have a time or 2 with migraine.

PS- since I cut my caffeine dramatically(aka: went from a pot of coffee a day to 2 big mugs of Chai tea) I ahven't had a migraine in a year. Even regular black tea makes me high now. wheeeeee. Don't know if it's related, but a few things to shoot for.

And please don't burn down your house, ya geek.

What I MEANT to say: I stick to Starbucks decaf now. But the smelly stuff they throw out really gets my sinuses going in a BAD way. Though on some days I'd kill for a good cup of strong coffee, other days the stink just drives me batty and can lead me into a coughing/asthma fit.

(No more bizarre latenight posting for me!!!!!!)

Could there be mold somewhere triggering the attacks?

I'm so bad that the smell of someone's hairspray will set me off.

Maybe it's something new? It's still a tad early for the seasonal batch.

Kate.

YES! You hit it on the head! LOL!! Medicines have such weird side effects! Now that I'm on more meds, I'm really starting to notice some bizarre side effects, esp when I combine stuff. Stuff that's SUPPOSED to be helping!

we'd have been trouble in our teen years had we known each other back then, LOL! I just drank, but even still! Oh the stories I could tell my mom that'd make her hair turn grey. Mind you, she was negligent, so maybe she'd never have cared.

how did I ever get a teaching degree?lol
