Have a great birthday, sweetie. Thirties are much better than the 20's!

I hope this year is a good one for you!!!

Happy Birthday Shannon!

I totally feel your pain. I'll be 25 in August and I'm dreading it. I was supposed to be married with at least one kid by this time. haha.. I can't even get a date, nevermind a fiance.

I do understand though.. its hard not to plan for the future with high hopes.. its ingrained in us since birth to have unrealistic expectations.. and of course we feel crappy when we really just how unrealistic they are.

LOL you would think with all our psych background, and you know how into psych I ambut really...you'd think we'd know how to SOLVE our own problems, and compulsions and obsessions, eh??
Why can't we? I do every survey i can get my hands on and it is a damn good thing I can't get a hold of the actually psych administered assessments, because it'd be ugly...

I often wonder if that's why we didn't get into ed psych.(well, my original and still standing plan is to be a child psychologist)in the first place... to solve our own problems from our own mentality/childhood!!!

Whaddaya think? Analyze this!!

maybe it's just me. i'm VERY close to being OK with my childhood and my past. God bless that.

Your celebrations sound fantastic, have a great time.

I turn 30 in May so I know all the "ought to have dones" that you are talking about, big birthdays reallymake you start checking up on your "to do by" list.

Let me know how 30 goes so that I can prepare myself for it!

Must start writing our "to do by 40" lists now!

haha... I dunno! thats a good question..

I'm not sure that thats why I went into educational psychology though.. because I was a very lucky child. I grew up in a cookie cutter middle/high socioeconomic status household, two parents still married, without abuse, or fighting, mental health problems or learning disabilities. So I dunno if your theory works for me... but I bet it does apply to many people!

I know I went into it beause I love psychology, and I love kids! it went together like bread and butter. haha

And I will certainly keep you up to snuff. I think I'll just have a year of very hard work and getting that list accomplished.

I wrote that post last night after getting home...and I had had a few drinks... I got personal there.
I'm GLAD you came from a cookie cutter family! That's what my plan is for my daughter. You know, considering my neglect/abuse as a kid, I think I turned out pretty well.

Sorry to put you on the spot. That was just a drunk woman's ramblings. Ha ha, so not what a 30 year old should say!!!

Shannon, don't be so hard on yourself. If it makes you feel any better, before I married Tommy I didn't have a mortgage and was still renting too!
