Hello everyone:
I am newbie here. My name is Maureen Conlin and I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I was just in the hospital again last week cause of the bowel obstruction. I almost had to have surgery but they cleaned me out with this god awful tube down my nose.
Well enough of that I just wanted to know if there is a chat line that people come together to chat and I have to seriously think of better ways to eat and drink. Cause I tried little bit of coke and chipes and my stomach said no way ho say and this was my first day home.
So I will need lot of support to eat better and find recipes that will help me out.
Thanks

Oh dear me, we have LOTS of work to do on you, Girlfriend!

First of all, WELCOME! If you do in fact have IBS, you came to the right place.

Secondly, anything pertaining to IBS really goes into the "IBS Diet Board" (see the link above). The Living Room here is where we "come together to chat" about non-IBS stuff, to lighten our loads a little and to try to get our minds off our tummy problems.

Have you been to a GI? Did they run all the tests, including a colonoscopy? You need to rule out lotsa stuff first.

Cokes are a no-no. Same with chips.

If it turns out that you do have IBS, then you need Heather's book, "Eating for IBS" -- it's our bible. If you follow it to the letter and don't cheat, you'll get better.

You want recipes? WE GOT RECIPES! Check out the Recipe Board. There's an index at the top that Heather has earmarked. You won't believe the awesome selection of goodies.

Again, WELCOME!
