Oh that was so funny last night! I can't wait for this season!! How about the Brittany Spears overtanned digbat?? She was soooo funny!! She just didn't have a clue. I really liked the twins too they were good. It will be fun to watch some more tonight althoug if it runs into Lost I will have to miss some of it!!

I am with you!!!!! I love American Idol, Carrie Underwood is my favorite so far. Too bad I have class on Tuesday nights so I wont be able to watch. I will have to wait for Wednesday and see just a briefing of it. I am trying to talk my husband into Tivo:)

Yes, Carrie Underwood is my fav too!! Then Kelly... I have ALL the American Idol 1st place winners CD's except for Fantasia... I just could not get into her. I even have Justin's & Clay's... I'm I sick or what? LOL

I LOVE AMERICAN IDOL. It's such a fun and uplifting show. I get tired of watching crime scenes & lawyers all the time.
Hubby & I have a bet with Bevrs & her hubby. When they get to the final 12 we will each pick out a fav contestant. The prizes are a gift certificate to Applebees for Bevrs & hubby if they win and a gift certificate to IHOP for me & hubby if we win.
I don't understand how that barefoot jumping guy got through. What were they thinking? I loved the twins, too.
It's gonna be a fun season.

I hate the fact that as a result of william hung.. crappy singers all across america try out for the competition just so they can get their 5 seconds of fame. I find it TRES annoying.. So I wait till they weed it out.

A local news article says one of them is in jail and the other one charged also, with auto theft and forgery and a bunch of crap. Anyone else heard this? such nonsense

The return of the show Tuesday drew its best-ever season premiere ratings with 35.5 million viewers. It was a 6 percent increase over last year's debut, according to preliminary Nielsen Media Research figures.

I think the cute 16 year old girl with long locks of dark curls is gonna make it big from last night. She just had a great voice and great smile and such a personality! AND really, what were they thinking with the guy with no shoes. (He's actually from Pennsylvania, not sure where Wexton is though!)
Hubby and I usually only watch this part of Idol, the try outs. We were hysterical both nights!

There weren't that many people who went through, although one guy was interesting---he was decent looking, had a good voice, and...was an embalmer!!! They did a little back story on him so you knew he was going to make it. There was also a guy who supposedly looked like Randy, and a girl named Paula who did NOT look like Paula, and sang HORRIBLY. There were definitely more bad than good last night.
Oh, but there was a sweet 16 year old boy, who kind of barely squeaked through because he was young, but he'll be fun to watch.

Hi Shell,
Not too much from the auditions in Austin. I did like the Funeral Director....he sang pretty well and was cute, too.
Otherwise, not much. Next week I think they're in Boston. Then it will be off to Hollywood.
Some excited contestants accidentally knocked Ryan on the floor....it was so funny. He's such a cutie!

He is cute but can he really sing? I wasn't too impressed last night! I think the little country boy was in way over his head. He was so sweet, though! Like he said, "You never know what the future holds".
Even though the twins have great voices they have a bad attitude and a chip on their shoulder. I think Simon should have sent them home when they had the "hissy fit" on stage!
It will be interesting to see who they narrow it down to.

Yeah country boy was cute but could not sing! I didn't think so from the beginning and wondered how he got that far. I can not believe the twins. They are too extreme. I really hope they don't make it to the final 24. I like the gray haired guy and also the young black girl whose grandma was a singer. My in-laws are coming over tonight and I hope I don't miss Idol! that it's gonna be a girl this time! My prediction, Lisa Tucker(I think her name is? the 16 year old girl)or Paris.They are just awesome. I do sometimes think they overlook some singers if they "don't have the look". Look at all the gorgeous ones they picked! Not that they can't sing but it's all about the look too. (which, hello??? this is Hollywood, they can make anyone look good if they don't have the look!!!!) Now though, that young grey hair guy just is creepy to me. I think they picked him because he's just strange he'll stand out and maybe give better ratings!

I really liked Paris, Lisa, Mandisa, Ayla, and the last girl that sang. Brenna needs to go! And oh my the twin sounded awful last night. So did the one who sang Josh Grobin's song. I am in love with Ace. He is so sexy when he sings! Hubby was laughing at me last night because I was practically drooling. I don't normally react that way over someone on TV but he just has that X factor (as Simon called it). I really like the rocker Chris. His voice was the best of all. Overall I wasn't super impressed with the guys. I thought the girls were better!

I dunno that I agree with you about Becky, Shelly... I think she's gorgeous but I don't think she's that great a singer. On the other hand, I was really disappointed in Stevie. I loved her during the Hollywood stuff, but she was AWFUL the other night, and then slightly better when she was singing her farewell. I think maybe she's the one I would have said could sing but picked a terrible song.
But I do agree that Brenna should have gone before both of them. I can't stand her either.
I was surprised how safe Ayla was. Don't get me wrong, she's a good singer and she's pretty, but I don't think she's likeable. She's too damn perfect and seems like she's had everything handed to her. I just don't think she wants to be a singer that badly, or that she's ready for a music career. I think she'd be just as happy back at school playing basketball.
As for the guys, none of them have been wowing me this year (though I will say that Ace is mighty easy on the eyes), so I didn't have strong opinions about them.

Brenna should have been the first to get the boot!! I can't stand her and I don't think she can even sing all that well. I agree with Stevie leaving. Becky should have made it a couple more shows.
For the guys - I'm very happy that copacabana boy is out - he just rubbed me the wrong way. But Patrick shouldnt have been voted off so soon. I think Gedeon needs to go - he's too cocky!! And I think his song choice was bad too!

Okay, is it just me, or do any of you see the same thing?
Tuesday she was crawling all over Simon, screaming for his attention, until he finally got irritated with her and told her she was acting like a precocious young girl, and she got up in a huff and traded seats with Randy.
Wednesday, she wore a push-up bra, and her boobs were popping out all over the place for Simon's benefit. Once again, she had her hands all over the man.
Last night, she was giggling while nestling up to Simon, who seemed a little embarrassed by it all (if that's possible), and slurring her words so badly no one could understand what she was saying, until Ryan finally had to ask them to get serious and to come back next week with a more professional attitude!

I do like chris a lot.. however, his voice sounds exactly (and I mean exactly) like a lot of the singers on the radio. In fact, his voice mirrors exactly almost every song choice he's made so far (think the lead singer of Staind.. their voices are similar to a T). That is my only drawback on Chris. I think he's amazing, but also not 100% original. He sounds kinda like everyone else out there singing the music he's singing. I'm surprised the judges haven't mentioned the fact that his song choice is basically the same every week.. however, I think they will begin to notice once the process starts dwindling down. Right now I think they are in love with his voice (which truly is good.. I just think he needs to mix it up to show that he's more original).
That leads me to Taylor. Seriously.. who is voting for this guy? and what are the judges thinking? Best performance of the night.. I didn't think it was all that impressive! He just really irks me! He dances like he's having compulsions all over the stage, his facial expressions are whack, and his moves far too jerky. I dunno.. maybe its just me, but I don't think he's the best male singer in the competition by a long shot! Nevermind the fact that he ruined the whole easter bunny thing tonight for the millions of elementary school kids who watch the show, and think the easter bunny and santa at the mall are real!

I agree with you Ashly about Chris. He has a great voice but sound just like the guys on the radio. No orginality. I do like Taylor's voice. He does bug me with his movements but you know what he is original. He just seems like a fun guy. My man Ace last night was so cute!!!!! Has anyone else noticed that when Randy and Paula are giving their opinions that Simon sits quietly and doesn't interupt, but as soon as Simon opens his mouth Paula and Randy are all over him? This has been driving me insane!! I know Simon is sometimes TOO honest and he's very blunt, but I think he is usually right and he knows what he is talking about. The judges this season are obnoxious!!!!
My favs so far are Chris, Elliot, Ace and Taylor for the guys. I can't decide on the girls. A lot of people like Mandisa, but for some reason she rubs me the wrong way.

I've been a huge Chris fan but he's doing the same sound every week and I think he has to show us he has a LITTLE variety to his voice, some range, I dunno, something - he's very good though, and he knows his style, so it's hard to argue with that. I just think it's gonna get boring after a while. I think of Bo's accapello (sp?) move last year, Chris is gonna have to do something like that, something different.
Elliott is fantastic.
But Taylor???? I love how confident and "I don't care!" he is and he can sing really well but he's just... I don't know, he's GREAT, he's fun to watch if you ask me, makes me think of how I might look up there, ha ha!!!! I actually think he's a little quirky and I love that, when a quirky person can get up there and be who they are, I think he's great, I hope he sticks around. He's totally contrary to the artists out there who are all image and no substance. Just my opinion!

She is SCREAMING for attention from that man! In all his TV interviews he's remarked that she wants him, but I didn't really believe it, thinking it was just PR, nothing more. However, this season she's been very obvious, crawling all over him. It's disgusting.
I'm bored by her constant praises of all the contestants, giving each one of them the exact same compliments over and over again. At least Randy offers some constructive criticism. Simon's cruel, but at least you know that he's offering HONEST criticism, and, yes, he's usually right.
He said Melissa and Kinnik "booked [their] tickets home," and I think he's gonna be right. We'll see tonight.

I've never really watched "American Idol" before, but I've actually caught bits of the girls' shows since my husband's been watching it. And, wow, the Southern girl with the super-fake blonde hair? Is she really that dumb or was that an act? I hope so. I mean, how can you not know what a minx is? Didn't she sneak off and read her mom's bodice-ripper romance novels like the rest of us?
Oh, well, that little black top she had on was really cute.
Is Melissa the girl who was wearing the ripped-up jeans? She reminded me of those car models, like in Hot Rod or car shows on the Speed channel. The ones who slut themselves up like crazy but you just end up feeling like they are kinda sad, not hot.
The only two that I really like -- and accordingly whose names I can remember -- are Paris and Mandisa. But I like Mandisa better.

I really do like Taylor I think he's original too! He's not a Fake that's the real him. He's kind of goofy but who says nobody can be goofy. He's actually somewhat of a good singer too!
I think Kevin & Will will be going home next, there just not as good as the others, but you have to remember these guys are Young, aren't they like 16 or 17. That's just great they made it this far!
I think Ace & Elliot are about the same as far as singing Ace is just a little more good looking. I think it's amazing that Elliot can sing as well as he does with a 90% hearing loss in one ear that's just great!

I cannot beleive that Ayla was voted off! I feel so bad that I didn't vote for her on tuesday, but I really didn't think she did well on tuesday night (however, I also didn't think my vote would make a difference, I never pictured her being voted off). Still.. More often than not she was one of the more amazing girls! I think Simon was right.. that one song killed her! I honestly think Mellissa should have gone!
As for the boys.. I'm a little less shocked. I assumed it would be Will, and I was sure it would be either Gideon or Kevin. I am glad that it was Gideon over kevin though. Although, I felt bad for him when he was singing his farewell song. He sang it really well tonight.

I agreed with the first ones voted off...but I, too, was shocked tha Ayala and Gideon were voted off. I feel guilty for not voting for Ayala either. I knew I should have!
I thought it should have been Kevin and Melissa voted off. I kind of like Bucky. Not my favorite...but sort of cute in his own way. Maybe it's that southern drawl of his!

I'm surprised ACE was in the bottom three. UMMM HELLO!! he's good and he's a hottie.
As for Melissa.. I personally think it was her time to go. I don't think its ok to forget your lyrics TWICE when you're in the top 12.
Also, I'm not a fan of Lisa, so I didn't think that that vote was completely unwarranted.
As for Kevin.. he's def not one of my faves.. but I think he's miles better than that Taylor Hicks. I think people only like Taylor bc the dork is us all relates to him... not bc he's actually a good singer. Just my opinion. I think the same thing goes for Kevin.. he's that nerdy kinda guy too. I think Kevin and Taylor are similar in the fact that they are getting votes cause they are "more nerdy guys" which appeals to a lot of americans who were different growing up. I think half the votes are going to one, and half to the other.. depending on which dork appeals to you more..

I was shocked that Ace was in the bottom three. I surely thought Chicken Little (who I think is getting the big head) or possibly Bucky would go first. Anyway, I'm hoping he will come back strong. After all, I have a bet with Bevvy and I've picked Ace & Chris and she picked Taylor & Mandisa. She will be goin down.....I'm sure of it!
So far I think Chris is the front runner with Taylor(because of his quirkiness) a close second.
This is so exciting!

I can not believe that Kevin wasn't in the bottom 3! He is not a good singer. He sounded awful Tuesday night. I think the bottom 3 should have been Kevin, Melissa, and Rocky or Kelly. I love Ace and was shocked to see him in the bottom 3 but he didn't really sound all that great either. I really like Chris, Taylor and Katherine McPhee. It will be interesting to see next week's results!

I could NOT believe my ears when I heard that ACE was in the bottom three.... It should have been Kevin (FAT HEAD that CAN'T sing or dance), Lisa (Who?....as Simon would say....very forgettable performance(s)), & then Kellie (cute, but not that good) or Paris (good singer but she just does not do it for me)....

I was not really impressed with last nights show at all..... I have a feeling no matter how bad Kellie sings.... she will still be in the top 3-4 by the end of the show....she has LOTS of fans. I think the bottom 3 will surprise us this week....it SHOULD be Lisa to go home....but I have a feeling the some of our favs are gonna be in the bottom 3 after last night.... like Ace & Mandiva... just bad songs for them..... I'll be sad if Bucky goes too.... I like him....

I don't think Kellie is a particularly good singer (especially after last night), but I have a feeling she won't go home because people think she's cute and dig her "clueless-like" personality. I noticed that more than half of the signs in the entire audience last night were Taylor Hicks signs.
I vote each week based on that nights performance, however, I do not think that most of America does that. I think they pick one they like and vote for them whether they do well or suck that night. I think that explains why some not so great people have stayed in the competitions throughout idol history so long.

bucky went home tonight, and i'm not amused. I was liking him more and more each week! boo. I'm sure you're not amused either shell...
As for Elliot in the final two, two times in a row.. I just don't get it! I love him, and his phone line was SO busy last night. I thought for sure he'd be ok. If he goes before Taylor.. I will have to stop watching. I end up just getting dissapointed every week when good people go home. (haha the only bonus is that I have a lot less people to vote for every week since every person i've voted for basically has gone home).
