STATIC STATIC I HATE STATIC!

everyone here seems pretty crafty, so I thought i'd ask for any fixes..
First off, I have pin straight, really baby fine hair, i.e. read very very silky, and very prone to being static in the winter.
Anyways.. this winter its been fine.. hardly any static at all except when I where my puffy coat with the faux fur around the hood. I do have about 12 other winter jackets in varying wool, lengths, and colors, but only one comfy puffy one for really cold days. I mean hello.. I live in new england, which means that I've gotta wear my puffy jacket sometimes..
Anyone have any ideas so that my hair doesn't go crazy whenever I wear it?!?

I have *REALLY* long hair (I can sit on it when it's wet), so I completely understand and sympathize. One of the best things, I've found is actually a dryer sheet, like bounce (though since it's on your hair, I'd suggest an organic brand or something, unless you don't have sensitive skin like I do).
They also sell static-reducing conditioners and mists that work quite well, in my experience. Not the best, but it makes a difference.
Heck, I just tie it up and cover it all with a toque, I just end up with hat head.

I wear my hair almost constantly in a low ponytail all winter because it's so static-y! The best thing I've found is once inside, wash your hands, don't completely dry them, and run your slightly wet hands through your hair (usually I'm putting my hair back in a ponytail again because my hair is unruly). Helps get rid of some of the static at least.

They really work. Also, I spray a brush with Static Guard and run it through my hair.

I used to sew a lot, and I always bought my fabric at New York Fabrics (now "JoAnn Fabrics") in California. They had a warning notice posted by their fabric cutting counter that read something to the effect that their guarantee on all fabric would be cancelled on any fabric purchased by customers that had been washed and dried using "Bounce" drier sheets. It does something to the fabric that other liquid fabric softeners do not. I don't know what it is, because I never took the chance.....
......so ...... "heads up!"

Ughhhh I hate it too except I don't have it in my hair I get it with wearing skirts. However, I can spray static guard up my skirt and it goes away. You can't spray it in your hair unfortunately!!! It's funny you have static today cause the woman I work with said the same thing that her one side of her hair was static. Must have been a static day today. Too weird!!!

I noticed that when I put moisturizer on my skin all over (legs, arms, back) that seems to keep the static under control a bit more. I also spray my brush with hair spray before using it. Still I have some problems because my hair is so fine.

I have used a dryer sheet- such as bounce or downy and grazing your hair will make the static go away.
Hope it helps!

I have the same, baby fine, thin, straight hair as well and LOADs of static! I DO occasionally spray the static gaurd right in my hair if its really driving me bonkers but I hate the smell of it. I find that a was product works pretty good for most days. If I get just a little on my fingers and warm it up in my hands and run it through my hair it helps to keep the static out!
