Aw, man! I'm sorry.

People are incredibly STUPID sometimes. I know how maddening that can be, and I'm sorry you have to experience it.

I've had my car broken into twice in the last 4 years. They didn't damage the paint job, but they pried off the lock and stole some cds and small change. It ticked me off and made me feel a little less secure, too. I always think they would have done more if not for the motion detection lights in front of my old building.

I don't know how it works in Canada, but my premium didn't go up either time.

Thanks Snorkie! I don't think my premium will go up either... at least, I really hope not! Sorry to hear your car's been broken into so many times! I don't get that - why go to all that trouble just for some change and CDs? Sheesh. Some people.

Actually these guys might've been spooked by something too, because (and wow I totally forgot to mention this my original post) there was a car that was parked on the next level in the parking lot that was absolutely totalled - the windows were all smashed out and there was spray paint all over it (the same tags that were keyed on my car). Luckily this was an abandoned car that someone just dumped in the garage a few years ago so no one in the building owns it, so now my landlord actually has to pay to have it carted away or just leave it there (because the police clearly don't care about this at all...) But YIKES!!

about 3 years ago, my NEW car got keyed all along the drivers side---from front to back, and DEEP. It was parked in front of my husband's (then boyfriend)house where he lived with his family. In a small town, with hardly any crime. I didn't see it until I went to the gas station on the way home and I actually started crying, I was so upset. I never got it fixed because I couldn't afford it back then. Now I'm mad whenever I see. Some kids are just total loser jerks!!!

Oh that sucks so much ginger! My car is pretty new too (about a year and half old) and I too did my share of (angry!) crying today. I just really don't get it. Why would someone do something like that??

I'm so sorry that really sucks!! I had so much trouble with my car getting broken into and stolen when I lived in London. I had so many claims it was ridiculous. My car was gone for a week and a half once, you should have seen what it was like when they found it. I am so sorry, I know how upsetting it can be. The whole go to the reporting station thing, yep been there too. With a smashed out window and glass all over my seat ummmm yeh okay!! You have to take it there after an accident too if nobody was hurt, the police don't come all the time anymore. I hope it all works out for you. In my case I ended up paying thousands of dollars while the punks who did it got to have fun and be merry!!!

Thanks Beth. Wow, that's crazy all you've had happen to you! I'm so sorry! I was in an accident last year (around this time actually) so I've unfortunately been through all the reporting station thing too - not exactly something I was wanting to do again! The police didn't even really care when I called them - they just told me to bring it in. There is a security camera in the garage, though I don't think my car would've been covered by it. Still, whoever did it would probably be on the camera, not that I really expect the police to investigate this... Sigh. Oh well.

But yeah, I'm just really ticked that some stupid kids who I've never met got a night of destructive fun and I get to pay $300 because of it!

Ugh that stinks!! I get so mad at people who think they can damage or steal things that hardworking people pay for! ABout 3 year ago hubby and I had our car stolen right out of the driveway. The one time we didn't lock it!! Well they found it but didn't notify us until 9months later when it had sat in a tow yard up in Detroit in the weather elements. It was probably only worth 2500 dollars and we didn't have full coverage on it but still I was ticked that someone could take something like that wihtout a second thought.

Thanks Angela. Oh wow, that sucks what happened to you! I guess I got off pretty lukcy in the grand scheme of things. There have actually been a lot of reports of people breaking into cars in my area lately, though I doubt this was the same people since the car definitely wasn't broken into and nothing was stolen. When I was away for two weeks for the holidays I was joking "hmmm is my car still going to be in the garage when I get back...?" Doesn't seem so funny any more!

How the heck would these people feel if it happened to them. What is wrong with people!!!!

I remember when someone stole my groceries when I was walking home from the store and hid them for 5 minutes while I went into another store. It feels horrible to have these jerks getting away with hurting innocent people. Beyond rude!

Yes that's exactly it Beth! I feel very VIOLATED. I was trying to articulate all day why this made me feel so... creepy. And that's just it - it feels so violating

Yikes, I can't believe someone stole your groceries! What's wrong with some people?!

Thanks for your kind thoughts.

That is terrible! I cannot imagine how angry you must be! How in the heck can someone do this to someone else's property? I hope the police catch them in the act. Does the garage have survelliance camera? If so, maybe they could figure out who did this.

I hate to tell you this, but my son's car was hit recently and the right exterior mirror was knocked off. It cost us $225 to replace that one mirror. Car repairs are so outrageous.

Hope you get it fixed soon---and can find a safer place to park. Thank goodness they didn't attack you too!

Thanks BL.

The garage does have a small surveillance camera but (stupidly) it only covers about half the garage and - lo and behold! - my car was parked right behind it. Still, certainly whoever did this would be ON the camera somewhere and if there's audio you could probably hear them doing it. That said, I really don't hold out much hope for catching whoever did it, or even that the police will investigate. Sigh.

I'm going to be parking in the above ground parking lot instead of the underground one for sure - but I still don't feel totally safe about that either!

But yes, at least it was just my car and not me. That's definitely a blessing.
