Ok, so here's my deal. My cycle is irregular. Which makes planning to make a baby more difficult, because I can never precisely count when ovulation will be. Sometimes it's 27 days long, sometimes 33. Annoying.
So On Tuesday I was at day 29, no symptoms of a period, took a test. I THINK it was negative, (but now I'm second guessing myself).
Here I am on Friday, NO period, NO cramps, bloating or other PMS symptoms, and waking up annoyed because if I'm going to get my period let me just get it and get it over with and move on to the next cycle!!
So this morning, I have one test left, an e.p.t., and I take it...and I THINK it's positive and I'm freaking out!!!!!!!!! But it's not a very STRONG positive, it's kind of faint over all (it's a +/- test), but I swear it's there.
So I need help interpreting, and like the nerd I am, I took a pic and here it is. If you can see it, let me know what you think!!

Ginger if there is even the slightest line on it then you have the HCG hormone in you and are probably pregnant. My last pregnancy/miscarriage I has a very faint line. But it was there. This looks like something is there. I would buy some more tests and do one tomorrow and again on Sunday. They should get darker and then I would call your OBGYN on Monday!!

When my friend became pregnant for her little girl...she came barging through my back door (my husband was building our deck at the time and she knew that back door would be open) into my kithen waving her ept stick around shouting "I'm pregnant....I'm pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I was happy and jumping around the kitchen with her, we were both crying as she had had fertility issues and then it occured to me "you peed on that thing and you're waving it around in my kitchen!" When I told her what I was thinking, we both sat down on the floor and laughed hysterically for a good long time!

It says on the pamphlet that even if you can BARELY see it at all, that it's positive. You better go get a blood test done to make sure, but the way I'm looking at it.....it's very positive!!

Girlfriend, I'm an EXPERT on epts and that is definitely a POSITIVE!!!!!!!!! Don't worry about it not being very dark, thats ok. Don't torture yourself with repeating tests over and over to see if they get darker, it doesn't work that way with epts! Call your dr!!! Get a blood test and a hcg level and CELEBRATE because you are pregnant!!!! Waahooo!!!!

Looks like it to me !! You could always buy a different brand. Some detect the hcg hormone sooner than others.

I am TOTALLY freaking out, cause sure I've been hoping, but trying to be realistic, and here I am home by myself all day and just in a total daze! I haven't even eaten yet (great huh?).
I think what I'll do is take another test tomorrow, and then Sunday, and if I get positives, I'll call the doctor monday.

I'm not telling ANYONE here (except my husband, and I may wait till tomorrow cause why should we both be disappointed?), until it's been a while. I'm still trying to be realistic about everything.
YIKES!!!!!!!!

You are pregnant!

I totally agree with Michele: Get the blood test! FYI, my sister's first stick test was positive, and then her second was negative... It takes a while for the pregnancy hormone to build up enough. (My sister is DEFINITELY pregnant. She's due in 2.5 weeks! )

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Oh my goodness. Two tests, on e.p.t. generic, one digital, and they were BOTH positive!!! I could barely sleep last night cause I knew I'd be testing this morning. So I crawled out of my husbands arms at 8 and took the tests. I brought the one that said "pregnant" and woke him up and his eyes went wide and then he gave me a big hug!!! We've been giddy all morning.

I can't BELIEVE it happened this fast!! Although I must say, we certainly did put in a good effort!

So now I am going to keep quiet until I see my doctor. I'll probably wait until 7 or 8 weeks to tell people, it would just be easier, we've both decided. it's going to be torture though! There is one friend (my husband's cousin) coming to town next weekend, and she's my best friend and I can't be around her without telling her so I'll probably pull her aside, but that's it!

So, thanks for all your support and advice ladies, I obviously put it to good use! Hopefully you won't get sick of me talking about it over the next 9 months...I'm SO glad to have this board, you have no idea!!

Congratulations again. Did you see on that website I posted that those +/- tests aren't good ones to use cuz you can't tell for sure? Also, you count how many weeks you are from the first day of your last period so you have to be more than 3 weeks! Get ready for the fun. I can't wait to have another one. I love being pregnant. I took a test on Friday cuz I was late but mine was negative. Maybe next month lol. My 5 year old keeps saying she is getting a baby brother when Zoe's 2 so who knows maybe she will be right hehehe.

and made me totally nervous about the tests I took. Really, what an amazing site! So much REAL data. And I love the pics, so thanks for that.
So Saturday morning, I took the other +/-, but I did the digital too and it said "pregnant", and then Sunday morning I did one where you pee in a cup (not the easiest thing to do) and then stick the test in it, and that was a "one line or two test" and it was definitely positive too.
But I've got that website saved for in the future. And I plan to tell any friends who need to know too!!

Still slightly in a daze, and finding it VERY hard to keep quiet. My one friend who I planned to tell this weekend when she's in town (who moved to Phoenix recently), she called yesterday, while my sister-in-law was here, and she said straight away: "How is the baby making?" I was totally surprised and said "Er, ok" and she said "No suspicions?" and I said "No...", and I hated lying, but I couldn't say anything in front of my sister-in-law. So I texted her when we got off the phone and said "I had to lie to you, I'll tell you what about this weekend" and she knew right away. So we had a text message conversation back and forth for like 20 minutes!!! She's really excited. I'm so glad I'll at least be able to talk to her about it, before we break the news to everyone.

Ok, well, I better finish getting ready for work or I'll be late!!!

Oh my, this is terrific!!!! It will be torture not telling people! I know every time I got a positive, I just wanted to scream it from the top of the mountain! LOL!!

Have you been taking folic acid? If not, start TODAY! Also, a good b-6 and b-12 vitamin in addition to pre-natals is a good idea! It will help with the morning sickness and help keep your energy up a little! The one thing my high risk dr told me to take for morning sickness was the b vitamins and unisom! Yes, the over the counter sleeping tablet! It has some sort of anti-nausea med in it and it DID help!! Obviously, it will make you tired but sleepy is better than throwing up in my book!

So should I worry if I'm not having morning sickness already? My mom had it bad, so I assumed I'd have it...but I've been fine. I have been taking prenatal, but I will ask the doctor about the other stuff. I'm seeing him tomorrow, I'm glad I don't have to wait long! It's funny, for a regular gyno checkup, I always have to wait, but I guess they figure pregnant ladies come first!

And you're right---it's TORTURE not telling. I was afraid all day Saturday when I was with my brother and his girlfriend that I'd just accidentally shout "I'm pregnant!" in the middle of the conversation!!!
Another funny thing---went to a family party yesterday and my sister-in-law ended up coming back with us unplanned to watch a movie with me. I had taken another test that morning, and it was right on top of the garbage in the bathroom, so I made a plan to hit the bathroom right when we got home and cover it up. My husband had to use it first, and when I went in, there was this HUGE wad of unused toilet paper on top of the garbage!! I laughed and asked him after if he did that, and he said "Yeah!" So I guess we were thinking alike on that!
So basically, all I think about all day is....I'm pregnant. So far, I have done NO work today!!

Yep, I felt that dazed feeling before! Nope, no need at all to worry about not having any ms (morning sickness) yet! It usually doesn't hit until 6 weeks or so and not everyone gets it, even if your mom did but because your mom did you are more likely to get it! It takes a little while for the hormones, hcg and progesterone, to raise and thats why you get the ms! Right now, just be sure to stay really hydrated. In my experience, there's nothing thats going to take your mind off it so just try to go with the flow! I know its hard to be "normal" and work when all you want to do is dance around singing "I'm pregnant!!!!!"

Congrats~ My mom had such bad episodes of morning sickness that she had to quit her job! Luckily enough my dad was able to support us all. When I was pregnant with my son, I had no morning sickness at all, not once. I did not have any symptoms except for my missed period. Hopefully you will be lucky to and be spared the morning sickness adventures. We are TTC and I am so afraid that I was too lucky with our first that I am going to have all that good stuff this time:)

Keep us updated on your progress!

THAT WAS FAST!!!!

Congratulations, Ginger! I know you must be thrilled. It is hard to not spill the beans to everyone you know. At least you can come here and "talk" about it---and we will keep it a secret!!!

I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy and a beautiful, healthy baby!
