Thanks. I have a little spare time now, as it's the holidays (and I'm avoiding working on my dissertation proposal). But I'll be heading out of town for a week and then school will start up again and I'll probably disappear once more.

My mom thinks the same.. she says I'm just curvy now and she likes it.
I don't hate how I look (although it sucks when others point out how you looked better before). However, I do want to get back into all my other clothes. I have a walk in closet full of them, and they are going to waste. Thats my motivation!
What is your resolution?

totally understandable. I have a break from school now until Jan 22nd. I still need to go to my internship starting again Jan 3rd, but luckily it is only three days a week (ha, I'd rather have it be zero, but we can't have everything can we). I love freedom!

I'm probably not going to kick myself too hard if I don't lose 40, because it really is a lot harder to lose weight than it was 10 years ago, but I have to at least give it a try. And either way, getting control of my EDs would be good, too. I'm sick and tired of being a compulsive overeater.
So yeah - starting Monday, I'll report in if you do!

I'd like to make more friends, and keep in touch better with those that I do have.
Being in grad school, I really seriously have very very few friends, and its kinda depressing. Most of my friends from college are scattered around the country, and I should call them and keep in better contact. Unfortunately, most of my favorite friends live miles and miles and miles away.
Ideally, i'd love to have a bestfriend in Boston, and find a great group of girlfriends to go out with, see shows, hit up a movie. I'm lacking that now, and I miss it a lot.
I dunno how to actually accomplish this resolution.. but I'm gonna try my best!

I've got another 25 pounds from pregnancy I want to lose. Actually, 30 would be ideal. I don't feel like I look THAT much heavier, but the scale tells me so!
Last year I gave up smoking! Yay for me I actually gave it up in November, so now it's been over a year.
I am giving up sugar. I started today....my head is POUNDING. I am the biggest sugar addict on earth. Yesterday I ate a pound of skittles...and every meal I eat has sugar! I am just so addicted, it's awful...and I'm worried my breastmilk will get Grant addicted! I will probably be having some horrible withdrawel symptoms coming my way. This headache is enough to about give up!
Good luck everyone with your resolutions!

I'm gonna do it too! My doc's appt. is in Sept. I have 8 months before he forces me to take cholesterol meds, and damnitall, I ain't gonna do it. I'm gonna walk into his office, healthy as a horse, and he's gonna tell me, "get outta my office; you're too damn healthy -- oh, and stop taking that BP meds; you don't need it now!"
That's my goal. That's my New Year's Resolution. How am I gonna achieve it?
Beats the hell outta me.....

I could never give up sugar.. I love my candy too.
I've been trying to cut down though. I figure i'll feel better if I just cut back instead of deprive myself of it. That only makes me want it more! haha
Good luck!

I'm laughing at the terrible knitter part, because I've just finally come to terms with the fact that I will never be able to sew - I've only been trying for the past 15 years. Time to give up!
And yeah... I've come a long way in a year. I'm still in good health - good BP, good cholesterol, everything normal - but everything from cancer to heart disease to diabetes runs in my family, and I think it's a good idea to start taking care of myself now.
Gosh, I'm getting mature or something.
I'll be jealous of your horse-riding! I haven't gotten on a horse since I was 13 or so, and I miss it.

I think if you're going to make a change for the better, it should be reason enough, not just because of a day on the calendar. However, I do have a few "goals" for the new year to make myself feel better about myself. I consider them goals - they're a plan. Not an iron clad promise.
