Yes, I'm familiar with that yarn; I believe it's all cotton. It makes into a nice dishrag and should hold up a long time once knit up.

But you don't roll the yarn into a ball; it's already "rolled" for you. You reach inside the "hole" for the OTHER end of the yarn, not the end that's on the outside of the skein. That way, when you're knitting with it, the skein doesn't roll all around as the yarn is pulled.

So..... lets see the pattern!

This is fun.

Would you believe I am already having trouble? I think I am holding the yarn too tight for one and stitch after the initial slip not is eluding me...I know it is something totally simple and I could be doing it right but it looks funny.

Anal retentive people like myself have to have everything just right...argghh. I think if we were neighbors, I would have this down by now! Once I get going, there will be no stopping me but it is the getting going!

I did learn of a place where I can go and have the hands on training but I really want to get going before then! I will keep trying...so far my couch is safe!

Hey, good for you! Just leave that couch alone.

The slip knot can just be a regular knot; it's not important, as long as it holds. It always gets hidden in the finished product. Just concentrate on the knit stitch and having a looser grip. It helps if you can get the yarn-wrapped around your hand correctly, because that's your tension, and it will be reflected in the even (or uneven) stitches. There should be a picture showing how the yarn goes around your hand. I also use my little pinkie; you'd be surprised how well it works to control the pull on the yarn.

If you want more help, we can talk by e-mail if you wish. Frankly, I'm really proud of you for moving along as you have, and doing it ON YOUR OWN. That shows desire.

You GO, Girl!

my email is e-mailrachelk@yahoo.com . I know the tension is one of my problems. I swear if there were someone in person to help me I would have several dishtowels made by now...oh well in time.

I have housework to do so I have put the knitting down for now. Those needles may come in handy! My husband was aggravating our dogs until I threatened to poke him with a knitting needle!
