just back from the urgent care center. i sliced my finger open this morning while trying to get a head start on thanksgiving.
i have a new mini food processor. i washed off the blade and was wiping it dry with dishcloth when it sliced my finger. blood was gushing everywhere.

i got 3 stitches, pain med, a tetanus shot---and a splint to wear. now i have to type with 1 hand---and don't know how i will finish cooking since i can't get my left hand wet. heck, i don't know how i will shower and wash my hair.

i was in my x-mas flannel pj's when this happened. try getting dressed and putting shoes on while holding paper towel on finger....i never could put my bra on. i put sweats on. thank goodness its cold today and i was able to wear my coat.

now, gotta find a ziplock bag and tape---so i can shower,

happy thanksgiving to you all.

no more cooking in my pjs.

That sucks Bl!!!! I'm not allowed to use sharp knives just for that reason! I'm sure it'll all work out! Remember whats important, spending time with loved ones! Order a pizza if you need too!

BL, I'm sooooo sorry! I know how you feel, though, 'cause hubby got me one of those jazzy knives for my birthday (the kind Rachael Ray uses on NetworkTV), and I tried chopping onions last week like she does. Believe me, it ain't possible! I almost sliced my thumb off. Thankfully it wasn't nearly as serious as yours, but it did take a lot of Band-Aids and kept me from being able to do any more work in the kitchen.

Take it easy and let everyone else cook The Bird. It's your turn to sit back and enjoy it all.

Oooooh, your post gave me shivers.....!

That is the most intresting thxgvg story i have heard all day. I announce you the WINNER!!

Now go get some buckets of sympathy from your family who will undoubtedly treat you like a princess for selflessly putting their food preparation before your bodily harm.

I wish I had thought of mangling one of my appendages before thxgvg!!!!! The best ideas are always taken!!!!!

I came in to cruise the boards while my pies were baking. I did something similar when my daughter was a toddler...drove with her to the Urgent Care Center, nurses said they would watch her and then they lost her!

Come to Houston...you can eat with us! I am cooking for an army and it's just the four of us and maybe Harry's (the dog) mommy.

Hey BL,

YIKES, sorry about your finger. I did that once a long time ago slicing a tomato and bled like a stuffed pig and it hurt like crazy.

Take care of yourself and just take it easy for Thanksgiving.....let someone else do the cooking.

not a good time for that to be happening! Hope it's feeling better soon. Stinks to have to put a bag on to shower doesn't it?!! My son broke his arm at 3 and leg at 5 and it was a shower nightmare for him too!

Heck I would have just put some sneakers on and went to the ER in my Christmas PJ's. I'm sure they've seen worse. You probably looked cute
