Well today, my boyfriend Andrew and I celebrated one year together, and he gave me this:
(are you ready?)
While I don't believe in marriage, it is a sort of engagement ring, though not for us to be wed. It's just a promise or a bond, for something more for us.
I know, it sounds silly for a 17 and an 18 year old to be 'engaged', but we prefer to say promised.
I must say though...WOW. He knows my taste perfectly. AND THE STONES ARE REAL.
I could have killed him for spending that much money, considering he's in college!
I can't stop smiling though...and blinding myself in the eyes because this thing is so darned shiny!

We are so completely in love, it's actually corny! Though I guess that's a good thing?
He does have great taste, though not with clothing, wall colors, or anything else color related. Oh boys.
Thanks

It's a shame we never got together, but since he's in college and I'm wayyyy to busy, I doubt it'll happen before you leave! DARNED!
Though I've only ever mentioned my IBS once in our relationship, so I guess he might be a TAD confused as to how we met!

Corny is good, I agree, though too much of a good thing does spoil a girl
Thank you

I'm enjoying him quite thoroughly
I just don't like how marriage is just a legal term nowadays. I'm so sad that this term has prevented homosexual couples to be happy together, and well, I just don't agree with most of the wedding customs that we submit too.
Anyways, I'd prefer a ritualistic hand-binding, something more emotional and spiritual and special to *me*.
If this isn't making any sense, don't mind me. It's hard to think when I have a very shiny ring sparkling at me

Happiness is ALWAYS good. And a hand-binding ceremony sounds so much cooler and more meaningful than a normal modern marriage!
Can you stop yourself staring at the ring yet? Ah, what fun a shiny new ring is!

It is very cool, and very symbolic. I love 'alternative' weddings, those that are different from the typical modern ones. I simply adore the Indian culture surrounding marriage, as well as many of the Wiccan or Pagan ones.
And no, I can't stop staring...occasionally I'll just look at it and smile!

Isabel, the ring is stunning! Are those tiny emeralds, I spy?
Congratulations, to you both.
Have lots of fun.
Kate.

i hear ya chica!!
Once upon a time, I too didn't believe in the whole marriage ceremony (then I became a religious Jew and it meant a ton...because there were roots behind it. And it def was NOt the traditional American wedding!!)
Anyhow, I am sooooo glad you are sooo happy *hugs*
Enjoy it, never worry about smiling too much, and just be happy some more, ok :P
Love ya!

It's so pretty! I love how it's so simple, yet sparkly at the same time. Emeralds are my favorite...although diamonds aren't bad either! heehee
Congrats on one year and I wish ya's many more!

Hey no problem Isabel, if it was meant to be we would have already met. No sweat.
You just enjoy being head over heels in love. Isn't it the best feeling ever?!!
So is this guy the one you broke up with before, or a completeky new guy? I'm a bit confused.

The same one as before...we got past our issues and are now happily together once more. It doesn't even feel like we were apart, to be honest. Life is like that!
